Miss Grand Turkey is a female beauty pageant title awarded to Turkish representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. [1] [2] [3] [4] The title was first awarded in 2016 when a Ukrainian-Turkish fashion model and singer from Cherkasy, Diana Birgen (Osypenko), was appointed as a Turkish candidate for Miss Grand International 2016, held in Las Vegas, United States. Since the establishment of Miss Grand International in 2013, Turkey participated only twice: in 2016, 2022, and 2023; however, all of its representatives were unplaced. [6] [7] [8]

History

Turkey participated in Miss Grand International for the first time in 2016 when a Ukrainian fashion model and singer from Cherkasy, Diana Birgen (Osypenko), was nominated by Miss Grand International beauty pageant management as a Turkish representative in the international competition held in Las Vegas, United States;. [1] [2] [5] Nowadays Diana Birgen (Osypenko) is the president of the Aegean Ukrainians Association (Turkish : Ege Ukraynalılar Derneği), [9] [10] which supports Ukrainian residents in the Aegean region as well as promotes Ukrainian traditions among the Ukrainian community on the Aegean coast. [10]

After five consecutive years of absence, the franchise was then purchased in 2022 by an Istanbul-based model agency, Özcan Yılmaz Agency Model, [11] and a Turkish German social activist who was also the finalist of Miss Grand Germany 2022, Deria Koc, was assigned as a Turkish representative for Miss Grand International 2022 in Indonesia, [3] [12] but she was unplaced . [7]

At the end of the event Claire Elizabeth Parker, Miss Grand International 2015 of Australia crowned Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia as her successor, making her the first Asian candidate to win the title. From 2014 to 2018, the pageant was held in parallel with the Miss Grand Albania competition as Miss Grand Albania & Kosovo, but after Aleks Tanushi of Aleks Fashion Events (A.F.E.) took over the Albanian franchise in 2018, it was instead organized as a stand-alone pageant from 2019 to 2021.

Miss Grand Kurdistan is a female beauty pageant title awarded to Kurd representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. The title was first awarded in 2014 to a Swedish-Kurdish, Dalia Rebwar Hassan, who was also a finalist of Miss Kurdistan 2013. Dalia later competed at the Miss Grand International 2014 pageant in Thailand.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand India</span> Indian beauty pageant title

Miss Grand India is an Indian national female beauty pageant, founded in 2023 by a New Delhi-based event organizer, Glamanand Group. The winners of the contest represent the country at its parent international platform, Miss Grand International.

Miss Grand New Zealand is a national female beauty pageant title awarded to New Zealand representatives competing in the Miss Grand International pageant. The first titleholder was Rachel Hope Crofts, who previously won the Miss Model of the World New Zealand in the Miss World New Zealand 2013 pageant. Rachel represented New Zealand in the first Miss Grand International in Thailand but was unplaced.

The 10th-anniversary edition of the Miss Grand International pageant was held at the Sentul International Convention Center in West Java, Indonesia on October 25, 2022, in which candidates from 68 countries and territories participated. These candidates were elected as the country representatives through different methods, such as through the Miss Grand National which was held to select the country representative for Miss Grand International specifically, or appointed by another national pageant organizer, in which the main winner was sent to compete on other international stages. Some of them were assigned as the representatives without competing at any national pageant in this particular year.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand International 2015</span> 3rd Miss Grand International Competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand International 2015 was the third edition of the Miss Grand International pageant, held on October 25, 2015 at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand. Candidates from seventy-seven countries and territories competed for the title, of whom a 20-year-old Dominican American from Rhode Island representing Dominican Republic, Anea Garcia, was announced the winner and received a cash prize of 40,000 USD as a reward. Meanwhile, the candidates from Miss Grand Australia, Miss Grand India, the Miss Grand Philippines, and Miss Grand Thailand were named the runners-up. However, due to the inability to fulfill the agreement, the original winner from the Dominican Republic was later replaced by the first vice-miss, Claire Parker of Australia, in early 2016.
