Miss Grand Indonesia 2019 was the second edition of the Miss Grand Indonesia pageant, [1] [2] [3] held on August 29, 2019, at the Balai Sarbini Hall, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. [4] [5] Thirty-four contestants, who qualified for the national stage via regional auditions, competed for the title. [1] [4] [6] Of whom, a 18-year-old Indonesian American freelance model representing East Nusa Tenggara, Sarlin Jones  [ id ], was announced the winner, [4] [7] [8] while Cindy Yuliani of Bali and Gabriella Hutahaean of North Sumatra were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Sarlin later represented Indonesia at the international parent stage, Miss Grand International 2019, held on October 25 that year in Caracas, Venezuela, [7] but was unplaced. [9]

Background

Date and venue

The pageant preliminary activities happened in two separate sections: firstly in Jakarta from August 19–22, and the last section happened in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, from August 23–26. [5] [1]

Selection of contestants

The finalists for Miss Grand Indonesia 2019 were determined through either the auditions or provincial preliminary pageants, which were held in East Java and Bali, the winners of which then represented the respective provinces on the national stage. [10] [11] [12] Meanwhile, the representatives of the remaining 32 provinces that lacked licensees were determined through an audition held by the central organizer in Jakarta. The qualified contestants were then assigned to represent one of Indonesia's provinces that they were affiliated with. [3] [13]

Cokorda Istri Krisnanda Widani is an Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ambassador, National Narcotics Board of the Republic of Indonesia Ambassador, Balinese dancer, model, beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2013 and represented Indonesia for the first time at the Miss Supranational 2013 beauty pageant, where she won as the 3rd Runner-up at the event.

Puteri Indonesia 2017, the 21st Puteri Indonesia pageant was held on March 31, 2017, at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta. Kezia Warouw, Puteri Indonesia 2016 of North Sulawesi crowned her successor Bunga Jelitha of Jakarta Special Capital Region 5 at the end of the event. All 38 contestants from 33 provinces competed for the crown. The winner will represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2017, while the runners-up will compete at the Miss International 2017, Miss Supranational 2017, and Miss Grand International 2017. Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere of France and Miss Grand International 2016 Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia attend at the Grand Final Show. Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova of Canada also attended the show as a judge.

Putri Indonesia 2018, the 22nd Puteri Indonesia pageant, was held on March 9, 2018 at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia. Bunga Jelitha, Puteri Indonesia 2017 of Jakarta SCR 5, crowned her successor, Sonia Fergina Citra of Bangka Belitung, at the end of the event. She defeated 38 other candidates to win the title of Miss Universe Indonesia 2018 and represented Indonesia at Miss Universe 2018, where she placed as one of the Top 20 finalists.

She represented Indonesia at Miss Universe 2022. Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2020, Putu Ayu Saraswati of Bali and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020, Jihane Almira Chedid of Central Java also crowned their successors, Cindy May McGuire of Jakarta SCR 5 and Adinda Cresheilla of East Java. Miss Mega Bintang Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia that selects the country's representatives in seven international beauty pageants namely Miss Grand International, Miss Face of Humanity, Miss Eco International, Reina Hispanoamericana, World Top Model, Reina Internacional del Cacao, and Miss Aura International.

Of whom, a 26-year-old University of Indonesia-graduated model representing Bengkulu, Nadia Purwoko, was announced the winner, while Vivi Wijaya Huang of North Sumatra and Stephanie Cecillia of Jakarta were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
