Miss Grand South Africa 2019 was the fourth edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on May 25, 2019, at the Atterbury Theatre, Pretoria. [1] [2] [3] Nine candidates competed for the title, of whom a 23-year-old diploma in Public Relations from the Boston City Campus and Business College representing Gauteng province, Belinde Schreuder, was elected the winner. [1] [3] [4] Meanwhile, the representatives of Johannesburg, Jeané Van Dam, and Limpopo province, Phomolo Bianca Tjie, were named the runners-up. [3]
Schreuder later represented South Africa at the international parent contest, Miss Grand International 2019, held in Caracas, Venezuela, on October 25 of that year, [4] [5] and was placed among the top 20 finalists, making her the first South African representative to obtain placement in Miss Grand International. Pretoria FM, formerly Radio Pretoria is an Afrikaans community-based radio station in Pretoria, South Africa. It broadcasts 24 hours a day in stereo on 104.2 FM in the greater Pretoria area. Various other transmitters in South Africa broadcast the station's content further afield, while the station is also available on Sentech's digital satellite platform. The station was founded seven months before the 1994 elections. From the start, it identified itself as a radio station for the Afrikaans speaking community. For a brief period, it broadcast informally from a makeshift studio east of Pretoria. Broadcasts were made possible with the help of among others, retired SABC employees. Miss Grand South Africa is an annual female beauty pageant in South Africa founded in 2015 by Commonwealth Pageant South Africa, led by Anel de Swardt, aiming to select the country representative to compete in its parent contest Miss Grand International. The license was transferred to Zee World in 2016, and later to Maggy-Dee Productions, led by Miss Grand South Africa 2015 "Lenie Pieterse" who currently owns and runs the contest since 2017.
Miss Grand South Africa 2016 was the second edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on August 6, 2016, at the Atterbury Theatre, Pretoria. Seven candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via an online screening performed earlier in April, competed for the title, and a professional model from the province of Limpopo, Caitlin Harty, was elected the winner, while the Mpumalanga representative, Precious Khoza, and the Gauteng representative, Thando Tsiane, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Harty then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2016 pageant held in Las Vegas, United States, on October 25, but was unplaced.
Miss Grand South Africa 2022 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on July 9, 2022, at the Boesies hall, Lake Umuzi Waterfront, Secunda. Thirty-eight candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via either an online screening performed or regional workshops performed earlier from February to April, competed for the title, and a 22-year-old fashion media student from Pretoria, Lu Juan Mzyk, was elected the winner, while the Johannesburg representative, Bianca Ramalho, and the Gauteng representative, Sphilangomusa Khwezi Msweli, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Lu Juan then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant held in Indonesia on October 25, but was unplaced.
