Since their first participation in the Miss Grand Italy pageant, Basilicata representatives won the contest once in 2019 by Mirea Sorrentino, [6] and was placed among the top 10 finalists in 2020 with the representation of Michela Cardillo Stagno. [7]

History

After the Miss Grand Italy director, Giuseppe Puzio, began franching the regional competitions to local organizers in 2019, the license for Basilicata was granted to Dario Marena. [4] In cooperation with the director of Miss Grand Campania, Crescenzo De Carmine, the first contest of Miss Grand Basilicata was then held parallelly with Miss Grand Campania on 31 August of that year at the Centro Commerciale Liz Gallery in Montesarchio, [1] [2] [8] The contest featured 20 contestants, of whom, a model Mirea Sorrentino was named the Miss Grand Basilicata 2019, [1] [9] [10] while Erika Argenziano was elected as Miss Grand Campania. [1] [10]

Several local contests and auditions were organized annually to determine the finalists for the region-level pageants. [4] In 2021 and 2023, the competition license was transferred to Canio Loguercio and Franco Capasso, respectively. [11] [12]

Candidates from seventy-four countries and territories competed for the title. At the end of the event Claire Elizabeth Parker, Miss Grand International 2015 of Australia crowned Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia as her successor, making her the first Asian candidate to win the title. Meanwhile, the first to fourth vice-miss titles was awarded to the representatives of the Philippines, Thailand, Puerto Rico, and the United States, respectively.

Miss Grand Italy or Miss Grand International Italy is a national female beauty pageant in Italy, held annually since 2019, aiming to select the country representative for Miss Grand International, which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting World Peace and against all kinds of conflicts. The pageant has been being managed by a Benevento-based event organizer MUPI SRL., chaired by Giuseppe Puzio, since its establishment.

Miss Grand Italy 2022 was the fourth edition of the Miss Grand Italy beauty pageant, held from 14 – 18 September 2022 at Grand Hotel Pianeta Maratea, Maratea in the Province of Potenza. Thirty-nine contestants chosen by various local organizers through their regional pageant competed for the title, of which an eighteen-year-old girl Miriam Malerba from Apulia was named the winner. Malerba later represented the country at the international competition, Miss Grand International 2022, held in Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia on 25 October. but got non-placement.

Miss Grand Italy 2023 was the fifth edition of the Miss Grand Italy pageant, held on 11 June 2023, at the Grand Hotel Pianeta Maratea, in the Province of Potenza. Forty-five candidates from different regions of the country competed for the title, of whom a 24-year-old Venezuelan-Italian professional model representing Aosta Valley, Andrea Zanettin, was named the main winner, while a 14-year-old girl from Naples, Aurora Fretta, was announced the winner of the Mascot category.
