Miss Grand South Africa 2015 was the inaugural edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, [1] [2] held on September 11, 2015, at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City amusement park, Johannesburg. [1] [3] [4] [5] Eight candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via an online screening performed earlier in April, competed for the title, [4] [5] [6] and a 22-year-old business student from the province of Free State, Magdalena Lenie Pieterse, was elected the winner, [1] [3] [7] [8] while the Eastern Cape representative, Danielle Leach, was named the vice-miss. [3] Lenie Pieterse then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2015 pageant held in Thailand on October 25 but was unplaced. [9]

The event was managed by a Johannesburg-based event organizer chaired by Anel de Swardt, Commonwealth Pageants South Africa (Pty) Ltd. [1] [3] [4] [6]

In the same event, the winner of the Mistress category, Rina van Schalkwyk, was also named. [3] She then represented the country at the Mrs. Universe 2017 pageant held in Durban, South Africa, where she was named the third runner-up. [10]

Following their newer method, both a Miss World South Africa and a Miss Universe South Africa were selected as representatives. From 2021 onwards, the winner of Miss South Africa will be competing in Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational. The current Miss South Africa 2023 is Natasha Joubert. On May 11, 2023, the Miss South Africa Organisation has lost its license as a Miss World licensee holder to Carol Bouwer Productions, which has taken over the license of Miss World South Africa pageant.

Miss Grand Namibia was a Namibian female beauty pageant founded in 2015 by Magnolia Kuhanga, the chairperson of the Windhoek-based organizer, Magnolia Events Management. The pageant was declared defunct in late 2018 after the incorporation between the aforementioned national organizer and Miss Grand International Limited was not extended and no other domestic organizer was interested in the license. Originally, the winners of the contest, which was held three times—in 2015, 2016, and 2018—were expected to represent Namibia on its international parent platform, Miss Grand International. However, all three winners withdrew from the international pageant for unspecified reasons; only one of them was replaced by an appointed representative.

Miss Grand South Africa 2016 was the second edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on August 6, 2016, at the Atterbury Theatre, Pretoria. Seven candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via an online screening performed earlier in April, competed for the title, and a professional model from the province of Limpopo, Caitlin Harty, was elected the winner, while the Mpumalanga representative, Precious Khoza, and the Gauteng representative, Thando Tsiane, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Harty then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2016 pageant held in Las Vegas, United States, on October 25, but was unplaced.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand South Africa 2022</span> 7th Miss Grand South Africa competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand South Africa 2022 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on July 9, 2022, at the Boesies hall, Lake Umuzi Waterfront, Secunda. Thirty-eight candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via either an online screening performed or regional workshops performed earlier from February to April, competed for the title, and a 22-year-old fashion media student from Pretoria, Lu Juan Mzyk, was elected the winner, while the Johannesburg representative, Bianca Ramalho, and the Gauteng representative, Sphilangomusa Khwezi Msweli, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Lu Juan then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant held in Indonesia on October 25, but was unplaced.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand South Africa 2023</span> 8th Miss Grand South Africa competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand South Africa 2023 was the eighth edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on July 22, 2023, at the Atterbury Theatre in South Africa's capital, Pretoria. Twenty-five candidates who qualified for the national pageant through the virtual casting competed for the title, and a 19-year-old former Miss Teen World from Johannesburg, Gugulethu Mayisela, was elected the winner. She was crowned by Miss Grand South Africa 2022, Lu Juan Mzyk, and obtain the right to represent the country at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant, which is scheduled to be in Vietnam on October 25.
