The flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is the national flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and is based on the flag of Turkey, with the colors reversed and two additional horizontal red stripes at the top and bottom. The flag was drawn by the Turkish Cypriot artist Emin Çizenel. It was adopted in 1984 by Northern Cyprus, a self-declared state that is recognized only by Turkey, after its unilateral declaration of independence in 1983.
Fatma Ekenoğlu is a Turkish Cypriot politician. She was the first female Speaker of the Republican Assembly of Northern Cyprus from 14 January 2004 to 1 May 2009. She is a member of the Republican Turkish Party. Pursuant to Article 105 of the Constitution of Northern Cyprus, she served as Acting president "in the event of the President of the Republic being temporarily absent from his office". Ekenoğlu studied at the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University.
The Turkish Resistance Organisation was a Turkish Cypriot pro-taksim paramilitary organisation formed by Rauf Denktaş and Turkish military officer Rıza Vuruşkan in 1958 as an organisation to counter the Greek Cypriot Fighter's Organization EOKA. The name of the organization was changed twice. In 1967 to "Mücahit", and became the Security Forces Command in 1976.
Osman Nuri Örek was a Turkish Cypriot politician, lawyer, author, and academic. He was born in Nicosia.
Mustafa Çağatay was a Turkish Cypriot politician who served as the first Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from 15 November 1983 to 13 December 1983. He was previously prime minister of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus from 1978 to 1983.
Hakkı Atun is a former Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He held this office between 1994 and 1996. He was born in Famagusta in 1935. In 1959, he graduated from Istanbul Technical University as an engineer architect. He studied urban planning at Manchester and Nottingham Universities. In 1961–1975, he held various public positions. In 1963, he became the Regional Director of Limassol-Paphos Planning, in 1967 became the Head of the Planning and Construction Department, and in 1975, the Undersecretary of Housing.
The Central Bank of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is the central bank of Northern Cyprus. It was established on 16 May 1983. Northern Cyprus uses the Turkish lira as currency and the main central banking functions are provided by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
Türk Maarif Koleji, commonly referred to as Kolej, is a selective secondary education institute in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. Access to the school is only open to students with top score in a nationwide entrance exam. It is an English-medium school.
Hasan Bozer is a politician. He served as the speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Cyprus from 6 May 2009 to 28 August 2013.
Turkish Cypriots first issued revenue stamps in 1962 as part of Cyprus; after 1983 of the UDI of Northern Cyprus, the country has continued to issue the stamps to this day.
Visitors to Northern Cyprus do not need to obtain a visa unless they are citizens of one of the countries for which a visa is required in advance.
The Council of Ministers is the executive branch of the government of the unrecognized state Northern Cyprus, consisting of ministers. The council is chaired by the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus and the ministers head executive departments of the government. The President of Northern Cyprus reserved the right to chair the Council of Ministers, albeit without voting. The maximum number of ministries, as defined by the constitution, is ten.
This is a list of members of Parliament (MPs) elected or assigned to the Founding Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. 40 elected members of the founding assembly were coming from the Federated Assembly as the base members. These members were elected at the 1981 parliamentary election, which was held on 28 June 1981.
Sıla Usar İncirli is a Turkish Cypriot neurologist, politician, researcher and trade unionist. She was elected as a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2018.
The Kadınlar Basketbol Ligi and known as the Commercial Insurance Basketbol Kadınlar Ligi due to sponsorship reasons is the top women's basketball league in Northern Cyprus. It is run by the Turkish Cypriot Basketball Federation.
Kyparissovouno is the highest peak of the unrecognised Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at an altitude of 1,024 metres, situated in the Kyrenia Mountains. It is located in the Kyrenia District.
The Black Gang was a Turkish Cypriot pro-taksim paramilitary organisation formed in 1957 with the support and funding of Fazıl Küçük and some other predominant Turkish Cypriots as an organisation to counter the Greek Cypriot Fighter's Organization (EOKA).
