Desoxycorticosterone acetate (also known as DOCA and 11-deoxycorticosterone 21-acetate and sold under the brand names Percorten Acetate and Decosterone, among others) is a mineralocorticoid medication and a mineralocorticoid ester. [1] [2] It is formulated as an oil solution and is administered once daily by intramuscular injection. [3] The medication is the C21 acetate ester of 11-deoxycorticosterone. [1] [2]
Fludrocortisone, sold under the brand name Florinef, among others, is a corticosteroid used to treat adrenogenital syndrome, postural hypotension, and adrenal insufficiency. In adrenal insufficiency, it is generally taken together with hydrocortisone. Fludrocortisone is taken by mouth and is most commonly used in its acetate form.
17α-Hydroxyprogesterone (17α-OHP), also known as 17-OH progesterone (17-OHP), or hydroxyprogesterone (OHP), is an endogenous progestogen steroid hormone related to progesterone. It is also a chemical intermediate in the biosynthesis of many other endogenous steroids, including androgens, estrogens, glucocorticoids, and mineralocorticoids, as well as neurosteroids.
Norethisterone acetate (NETA), also known as norethindrone acetate and sold under the brand name Primolut-Nor among others, is a progestin medication which is used in birth control pills, menopausal hormone therapy, and for the treatment of gynecological disorders. The medication available in low-dose and high-dose formulations and is used alone or in combination with an estrogen. It is ingested orally.
Cortisone acetate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and corticosteroid ester which is marketed in many countries throughout the world, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and various other European countries. It is the C21 acetate ester of cortisone, and acts as a prodrug of cortisone in the body.
Fluorometholone acetate, also known as oxylone acetate and sold under the brand names Flarex, Florate, and Omnitrol, is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and a corticosteroid ester, as well as a progestogen and progestogen ester. It is the C17α acetate ester of fluorometholone.
Deoxycorticosterone pivalate (DOCP), also known as desoxycorticosterone trimethyl acetate and sold under the brand names Zycortal, Percorten V, and Percorten M, is a mineralocorticoid medication and a mineralocorticoid ester. It is formulated as a microcrystalline aqueous suspension, is administered by intramuscular injection at regular intervals, and has a prolonged duration of action. The medication is the C21 pivalate (trimethylacetate) ester of 11-deoxycorticosterone.
Trestolone acetate is a synthetic and injected anabolic–androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of nandrolone (19-nortestosterone) which was never marketed. It is an androgen ester – specifically, the C17 acetate ester of trestolone. The medication was first described in 1963.
Formebolone, also known as formyldienolone, as well as 2-formyl-11α-hydroxy-17α-methyl-δ1-testosterone, is an orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) described as an anticatabolic and anabolic drug that is or has been marketed in Spain and Italy. As an AAS, it shows some anabolic activity, though it is inferior to testosterone in terms of potency, but is said to have virtually no androgenic activity. Formebolone counteracts the catabolic effects of potent glucocorticoids like dexamethasone phosphate. A close analogue, roxibolone, shows similar antiglucocorticoid activity to formebolone but, in contrast, is devoid of activity as an AAS.
Quingestanol acetate, sold under the brand names Demovis and Pilomin among others, is a progestin medication which was used in birth control pills but is no longer marketed. It is taken by mouth.
Inocoterone is a steroid-like nonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) that was never marketed. An acetate ester, inocoterone acetate, shows greater antiandrogen activity and was developed, as a topical medication for the treatment of acne but showed only modest effectiveness in clinical trials and similarly was never marketed.
Flugestone acetate (FGA), sold under the brand name Cronolone among others, is a progestin medication which is used in veterinary medicine.
Flugestone, also known as flurogestone, as well as 9α-fluoro-11β,17α-dihydroxyprogesterone, is a steroidal progestin of the 17α-hydroxyprogesterone group that was never marketed. An acetate ester, flurogestone acetate, is used in veterinary medicine.
Stenbolone acetate, also known as 2-methyl-4,5α-dihydro-δ1-testosterone 17β-acetate or as 2-methyl-5α-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one 17β-acetate, is a synthetic, injected anabolic–androgenic steroid (AAS) and derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which has been marketed in Spain.
Metenolone acetate, or methenolone acetate, sold under the brand names Primobolan and Nibal, is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication which is used mainly in the treatment of anemia due to bone marrow failure. It is taken by mouth. Although it was widely used in the past, the drug has mostly been discontinued and hence is now mostly no longer available. A related drug, metenolone enanthate, is given by injection into muscle.
Clostebol acetate (BAN), also known as 4-chlorotestosterone 17β-acetate (4-CLTA) or as 4-chloroandrost-4-en-17β-ol-3-one 17β-acetate, is a synthetic, injected anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of testosterone that is marketed in Germany and Italy. It is an androgen ester – specifically, the C17β acetate ester of clostebol (4-chlorotestosterone) – and acts as a prodrug of clostebol in the body. Clostebol acetate is administered via intramuscular injection.
Flumedroxone acetate, sold under the brand names Demigran and Leomigran, is a progestin medication which is or has been used as an antimigraine agent. It is taken by mouth.
Prebediolone acetate, also known as 21-hydroxypregnenolone 21-acetate or 21-acetoxypregnenolone (A.O.P.), as well as 3β,21-dihydroxypregn-5-en-20-one 21-acetate, is a synthetic pregnane steroid which is described as a glucocorticoid and has been used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It is the C21 acetate ester of prebediolone (21-hydroxypregnenolone), the C21 hydroxylated derivative of pregnenolone. Prebediolone acetate has been known since at least 1950. The compound is also an intermediate in a synthesis of deoxycorticosterone acetate (21-acetoxyprogesterone).
21-Hydroxypregnenolone, also known as prebediolone, as well as 3β,21-dihydroxypregn-5-en-20-one, is a naturally occurring and endogenous pregnane steroid, and an intermediate in the biosynthesis of 11-deoxycorticosterone (21-hydroxyprogesterone), corticosterone (11β,21-dihydroxyprogesterone), and other corticosteroids. It is formed from pregnenolone in the adrenal glands.
