<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grand Chord</span> Indian railway route

Grand Chord is part of the Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line and Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line. It acts as a link between Sitarampur, (Asansol), and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction,, previously known as Mughalsarai Junction, and covers a stretch of 450.7 km (280.1 mi). The Coal India Corridor line that branches off from Dhanbad Junction and rejoins the Grand Chord at Son Nagar Junction is another major coal loading hub. It is a fully electrified, quadruple line section from Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay to Son Nagar and double line section from Son Nagar to Sitarampur. There are plans to triple the lines from Son Nagar to Dhanbad to accommodate the increasing traffic.. The entire line lies under the jurisdiction of three divisions, Mughalsarai railway division, Dhanbad railway division and Asansol railway division. The Grand chord section is the lifeline of the country, 2nd busiest railway section of India after Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Uttar Pradesh Main Line section, on which coal, steel and other important goods are moved from Eastern section to Western and Northern sections of the country. In the down direction, the traffic consists of mostly food grains, fertilizers and empty wagons for coal loading in the Jharkhand and West Bengal coal fields. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction is a transit division and the main objective is to maintain mobility of high density traffic. The present capacity of the Grand Chord is being optimally utilized. Traversing through Chota Nagpur Plateau of Jharkhand as well as parts of the fertile Gangetic plains of Bihar, the Grand Chord covers a stretch of 450.7 km (280.1 mi). The Grand Chord is renowned for its remarkable controlling of passenger traffic, despite being burdened with freight traffic.

Vadodara Junction railway station is the main station in the Indian city of Vadodara, Gujarat. Due to its strategic location, it is the fifth-busiest railway station in India in terms of frequency of trains after Kanpur Central, Vijayawada Junction, Delhi Junction, New Delhi, and Howrah,and busiest in Gujarat state as well as second important railway station in Gujarat after Ahmedabad Junction. It is also major stop on the Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. Around 340 trains start, end, or pass through the station weekly. This railway station is a junction point for rail lines from Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Ektanagar (Kevadiya) and Chhota Udepur.

Bandra Terminus also known as Vandre Terminus is a railway terminus in Bandra, Maharashtra from where trains bound for northern India and western India are scheduled regularly. It was built in the 1990s to decongest the main Mumbai Central station. It is one of the five railway terminus within Greater Mumbai. The other four terminals are – Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai Central, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Dadar. It is close to Bandra Kurla Complex, a commercially important part of Mumbai as well as Mumbai Airport.

Mumbai–New Delhi Duronto Express, also known as Mumbai AC Duronto Express, is a 16 Coached fully air-conditioned, non-stop version of Duronto-type service running between Mumbai Central and New Delhi. It is one of the fastest train to connect Maharashtra to Delhi. It is maintained by Western Railways (WR), Mumbai division. This train did not make any commercial halts in the past, but now does at Vadodara, Ratlam and Kota. In the up direction, from New Delhi to Mumbai, the service runs with train number 22210 and in down direction, from Mumbai to New Delhi, as train number 22209. Post extension of Sealdah–New Delhi Duronto to Bikaner, this train is currently the fastest Duronto Express in Indian Railways.

Nadiad Junction handles more than 100 trains daily. If one wants to travel to Modasa, Kapadvanj, Petlad and Bhadran, they can change the train route from here. Indian Railways has decided to convert Nadiad-Bhadran Narrow Gauge Line to Broad Gauge line and Modasa line to be extended to Shamlaji.

Gadarwara railway station is a 'B' Category railway station under West Central Railways serving Gadarwara town, in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh state of India. It is under Jabalpur railway division of West Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways.

Udupi railway station is a railway station in Udupi district, Karnataka. Its code is UD. It serves the pilgrims visiting famous Krishna Matha at Udupi and the university town of Manipal, which is 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south from the station and Udupi. The station consists of two platforms. Most of the platform is not sheltered from the heavy rains that Udupi receives. The Konkan railway route in which trains are pulled by Diesel locomotives will now be powered by Electric locomotives after electrification of this route. Konkan railway conducted a trial run of Electric locomotives on 13 January 2020, Monday from Thokur railway station to Udupi railway station. The electric locomotive started from Thokur at 4 p.m. and reached Udupi at 6 p.m. On return journey the electric locomotive reached Thokur at 8 p.m.

The Delhi–Mumbai line is a major railway line in India. Linking the national capital of New Delhi with financial capital Mumbai, this railway line covers a distance of 1,386 kilometres (861 mi) across the Indian states of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Mumbai Tejas-Rajdhani Express which is the fastest Tejas-Rajdhani Express and the fastest train on this route, travels on this line and covers the distance between Delhi and Mumbai in 15 hours and 32 minutes at a top speed of 130km/h and a top average speed of 89 km/h.

Manikpur Junction railway station is a railway station in Manikpur town of Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh on Prayagraj–Jabalpur section. It is 99 km away from Prayagraj Junction. It has 4 platforms. Passenger and Superfast trains halt here.
