The 11th edition of the Miss Grand International pageant was held at the Phú Thọ Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on October 25, 2023, in which candidates from 71 countries and territories participated. [1] These candidates were elected as the country representatives through different methods, such as through the Miss Grand National which was held to select the country representative for Miss Grand International specifically, [2] [3] [4] or appointed by another national pageant organizer, in which the main winner was sent to compete on other international stages. [5] [6] [7] Some of them were assigned as the representatives without competing at any national pageant in this particular year. [8] [9] [10]
As per data collected in the National preliminary contest section, 48 national pageant was held to elect the country representatives for Miss Grand International 2023. Thirty-four of which was the Miss Grand National pageants (A1). Five was other national contests that sent their main winners to Miss Grand International 2023 (A2). Six national contests listed the Miss Grand title as one of the supplement awards (B1). Meanwhile, the remaining 3 contestants later appointed its runner-up as Miss Grand National titleholder (B2), including the representatives of Gibraltar, and Denmark. and Nepal. [11] [6] [7] All the remaining candidates were either determined through the casting or appointed without participating in any respective national pageants (C1 and C2), such as the representative of Hong Kong. Miss Grand International 2023 was the eleventh edition of the Miss Grand International pageant, held on 25 October 2023 at the Phú Thọ Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Miss Grand Australia is an annual national female beauty pageant in Australia founded in 2014 by Nadasha Zhang, aiming to select the country's representatives to participate at its parent international pageant, Miss Grand International. Its first two editions were held concurrently with Miss Supranational Australia before being held separately after the license was transferred to Dani Fitch in 2017.
Miss Grand Honduras is a national beauty pageant in Honduras, founded in 2022 by a chairperson of AV Productions, Amelia Vega. The winner represents the country at its parent contest Miss Grand International. Previously in 2013 to 2015, the license belonged to the Miss Honduras organization.
Miss Grand Colombia is an annual female beauty pageant in Colombia, founded in 2018 by Top 3 Latam chaired by Neyder Duarte. Previously, the country representatives were selected by the International Portfolio Agency headed by Elías Tobón and Mara Borrego, either by handpicking or through their national pageant, Miss Earth Colombia. Currently, the franchise belongs to the Bogota-based modeling agency, Casa De Reinas SAS which owns and runs the Miss Grand Colombia beauty contest since 2022.
Miss Grand Ecuador is an Ecuadorian female national beauty pageant launched in 2021 by the Concurso Nacional de Belleza Ecuador organization, directed by Tahiz Panus and Miguel Panus, with the aim of selecting a country representative to participate in its parent pageant, Miss Grand International. Previously, the competition franchise belonged to Maria del Carmen Aguayo, who usually chose the runners-up or national finalists from her national pageant, Miss Ecuador, to partake in such an international competition.
Miss Grand Honduras 2022 was the inaugural edition of the Miss Grand Honduras beauty pageant, held at La Galería in Tegucigalpa on July 10, 2022. Eighteen candidates representing 18 departments of Honduras competed for the national title, of whom Saira Cacho Álvarez of Colón Department was named the winner. She then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant held on October 25 in Indonesia, where she was placed among the top 20 finalists, making her the first Honduran representative to obtain the position at Miss Grand International.
Miss Grand Colombia 2022 was the second edition of the Miss Grand Colombia beauty pageant, held on June 24, 2022, at the Hotel Grand Park, Bogotá. At the end of the event, a twenty-eight-year-old Colombian American from Houston, Priscilla Londoño, was announced the winner, outclassing the other twenty contestants. She then represented Colombia at the parent international contest, Miss Grand International 2022, held on October 25 in Indonesia, where she was placed among the top 10 finalists. On the occasion of celebrating the pageant's first decade anniversary, Priscilla was also assumed by the international organizer to be one of the fifth runners-up, and she then spent a few months of her reign working with the organization in Indonesia and Thailand.
Miss Grand Costa Rica is a San José-based female national beauty pageant in Costa Rica, organized separately for in first time in 2022 by the Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica, with Erick Solis as the president. The winner of the contest represents the country at its parent competition, the Miss Grand International pageant. Before 2022, the competition license belonged to different organizers, such as the Reinas de Costa Rica organization (2015 – 2017) and the Miss Costa Rica organization (2018 – 2021). Most of the country's representatives at the Miss Grand International pageant during such a period were appointed without organizing the respective pageant.
Miss Grand Costa Rica 2022 was the first edition of the Miss Grand Costa Rica beauty pageant, held at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in San José on July 7, 2022. Twelve contestants, chosen to participate directly through the national casting held by the Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Costa Rica, competed for the title, of whom a 28-year-old model from Guanacaste, Brenda Muñoz, was named the winner. She then represented Costa Rica in the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant held on October 25 in Indonesia, but got a non-placement.
Miss Grand Ecuador 2021 was the inaugural edition of the Miss Grand Ecuador beauty pageant, held on June 26, 2021, at the TC Televisión Studios in Guayaquil. Six contestants, qualified for the national stage through an online audition, competed for the title, of whom the a 20-year old medical student and model from Los Ríos, Andrea Aguilera, was elected the winner. The contest was showcased under the direction of Tahiz Panus and Miguel Panus, presidents of the Concurso Nacional de Belleza Ecuador, who have owned the Miss Grand Ecuador license since 2019.
Miss Grand Kosovo was a national Beauty pageant in Kosovo founded by a Pristina-based event organizer chaired by Sherif Pacolli, Lens Production. The pageant winner represents the country at its international parent contest, Miss Grand International. From 2014 to 2018, the pageant was held in parallel with the Miss Grand Albania competition as Miss Grand Albania & Kosovo, but after Aleks Tanushi of Aleks Fashion Events (A.F.E.) took over the Albanian franchise in 2018, it was instead organized as a stand-alone pageant from 2019 to 2021.
Miss Grand Cuba is a national title given to a woman chosen to represent Cuba at the Miss Grand International pageant. The first titleholder was a Mexican-Cuban model from Sinaloa, Jamillette Gaxiola, who was appointed by the Miss Cuba organization to compete at the inaugural edition of the mentioned international contest in Thailand, where she was ranked in the final 10. Since then, Cuba has always sent their representatives to compete every year; however, most of them were appointed to the position without organizing the respective pageant until 2022, when a Miami-based Cuban pageant, Miss y Mister Cuba, acquired the license and the Miss Grand Cuba titleholder was elected through such a contest.
Miss Grand Dominican Republic 2023 was the second edition of the Miss Grand Dominican Republic pageant, held on August 5, 2023, at the Cibao Grand Theatre, Santiago de los Caballeros. Candidates from eighteen provinces and municipalities of the country competed for the right to represent the country at its parent international stage, Miss Grand International 2023, to be held in Vietnam on October 25. Of whom, a 21-year-old biology student representing Santiago, Skarxi Marie, was selected the winner and was crowned by the 2022 titleholder, Jearmanda Ramos.
Miss Grand Uruguay is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Uruguay representatives competing at the Miss Grand International contest. The title was first awarded on the national stage of the Nuestra Belleza Uruguay 2016 pageant, in which Mellina Carballo was named the first Miss Grand Uruguay titleholder. The contest was organized by Nadia Cerri, who was also the director of the Miss Uruguay pageant. Another titleholder, Jimena Martino, was determined through an audition held by the Certamen Nacional de Belleza Uruguay pageant in 2020.
Miss Grand United Kingdom 2023 was the third edition of the Miss Grand United Kingdom pageant, held on August 13, 2023, at the Aures London, London. Five finalists, who qualified for the national final through the preliminary contest arranged on July 16, competed for the title, of whom a 23-year-old marketing manager representing Sussex, Chloe Ellman-Baker, was announced the winner. Baker later represented the United Kingdom at Miss Grand International 2023, held in Vietnam on October 25 of that year, but was unplaced.
Miss Grand Turkey is a female beauty pageant title awarded to Turkish representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. The title was first awarded in 2016 when a Ukrainian-Turkish fashion model and singer from Cherkasy, Diana Birgen (Osypenko), was appointed as a Turkish candidate for Miss Grand International 2016, held in Las Vegas, United States.
The 10th-anniversary edition of the Miss Grand International pageant was held at the Sentul International Convention Center in West Java, Indonesia on October 25, 2022, in which candidates from 68 countries and territories participated. These candidates were elected as the country representatives through different methods, such as through the Miss Grand National which was held to select the country representative for Miss Grand International specifically, or appointed by another national pageant organizer, in which the main winner was sent to compete on other international stages. Some of them were assigned as the representatives without competing at any national pageant in this particular year.
Miss Grand International 2021 was the ninth edition of the Miss Grand International pageant, held on 4 December 2021 at the Show DC hall, Show DC Mega Complex in Bangkok, Thailand. Contestants from fifty-nine countries and territories competed for the title, of whom an International Hotel and Restaurant Management-graduated representing Vietnam, Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên, was announced the winner. Thùy Tiên was crowned by the predecessor Abena Appiah of the United States and received a cash of 60,000 USD as a reward. Meanwhile, the first to fourth vice-miss titles was awarded to the representatives of Ecuador, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and South Africa, respectively.
Miss Grand Tenerife is a Spanish provincial female beauty pageant founded in 2016, as a preliminary stage that is searching for representatives of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife province to compete in the Miss Grand Spain national pageant.
