Hobie Noble is Child ballad 189 and a border ballad.
Hobie Noble, an Englishman, was outlawed and fled to Scotland. A traitor tried persuade him to come to England. The traitor failed, but learned where Hobie was going, and sent word. Hobie dreamed that he was attacked and woke. He and his men tried to escape, but his attackers found and defeated them. Hobie was taken prisoner and carried off, to many comments that he had freed Jock o the Side. He refused to confess to any crimes, and said he would rather be a prisoner than a traitor.

The Prowler is an alias used by several fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. These characters are primarily depicted as wearing a green and purple battle suit with a cape and clawed gauntlets. The original Prowler, Hobart "Hobie" Brown, was created by Stan Lee, John Buscema, and Jim Mooney, and was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #78 as an enemy of Spider-Man. An African-American teenage prodigy, Hobie created the Prowler technology to operate as a petty thief, but was subsequently redeemed with Spider-Man's help, and has since become one of his most viable allies, as well as a superhero in his own right. A well-known equivalent of the Prowler, Aaron Davis, comes from the alternate Ultimate Marvel universe. Introduced in Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1 and created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, this version is a career criminal and the uncle of Miles Morales, who became the second Spider-Man in this reality.

It is part of the series of 305 traditional child ballads in England and Scotland. The rescue it depicts is recorded solely in popular tradition, although Jock of the Side himself appears to have existed.

Mitch Buchannon is a fictional character from the television series Baywatch. He was played by David Hasselhoff in every season of Baywatch and Baywatch Nights plus in the first season of Baywatch Hawaii. He also appeared in three films, Baywatch the Movie: Forbidden Paradise (1995), Baywatch: White Thunder at Glacier Bay (1998) and Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding (2003). Later, Dwayne Johnson portrayed a lifeguard also named Mitch Buchannon who is a protege of the original Mitch Buchannon in the 2017 film Baywatch.
King Edward the Fourth and a Tanner of Tamworth is a ballad first found in the Child Ballad collection, number 273. A ballad of this title was licensed in 1564. Versions of this ballad also exist outside the Child collection. Additional copies can be found at the British Library, the University of Glasgow Library, and the Pepys Library at Magdalene College. These ballads dates, by estimation of the English Short Title Catalogue, range from the early seventeenth century to as late as 1775. The ballad is most recognized by its opening line: "In summer time, when leaves grow green." Child describes the appeal of this ballad to be centered on the chance meeting with a King, which is also a recurring theme in tales of Robin Hood.

Elegast is the hero and noble robber in the poem Karel ende Elegast, an early Middle Dutch epic poem that has been translated into English as Charlemagne and Elbegast. In the poem, he possibly represents the King of the Elves. He appears as a knight on a black horse, an outcast vassal of Charlemagne living in the forest. The original Dutch poem uses the name Elegast, while translated versions of the poem commonly use the name Elbegast in German and English, or Alegast in the Scandinavian ballad.

He frequently changed sides and was a notable participant on both sides of the conflict. In the end, he was known as a traitor by both sides and did not have a funeral.
