Paradise is a town on the Avalon Peninsula in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Paradise is the third largest settlement in the province and is part of the St. John's metropolitan area, the 20th largest metropolitan area in Canada. The town borders the City of St. John's, the City of Mount Pearl, the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, and the town of Conception Bay South. According to the 2021 census the population of Paradise was 22,957 an increase of 7.3% from its 2016 population total of 21,389.

The river itself forms a natural boundary with neighbouring Clarke's Beach and is a scheduled salmon river. A second river, known as the Gould Brook, forms another natural boundary with the unincorporated local service district of Makinsons. South River is home to the Bay de Grave Regional Fire Department, a first step in developing successful regional cooperation amongst municipalities.

It is located on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland on the north side of Fortune Bay, on the southern tip of the Connaigre Peninsula in what is now known as the Coast of Bays Region. The town consists of six communities, St. Jacques, English Harbour West, Mose Ambrose, Boxey, Coomb's Cove, and Wreck Cove, all nestled within the inlets along the coast. They all had their beginnings in the fisheries and the fisheries have always been the mainstay of employment in the communities. In recent years aquaculture was introduced in the area, providing employment for its residents.
Mainland is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the western shore of the Port au Port Peninsula approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) from the Stephenville International Airport. Mainland is a coastal community, bordered by both the ocean and forest. The main industry in the community has traditionally been fishing, but currently (2016) a large portion of the inhabitants leave the community seasonally to earn income.
