The 31st Premio Lo Nuestro ceremony was held on February 21, 2019. Univision broadcast the show live from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Mexican-American TV presenter, Alejandra Espinoza, Mexican singer and actress Maite Perroni, and American singer Victor Manuelle hosted the ceremony. [1]
The ceremony honors the best in Latin music in categories such as regional Mexican, tropical, and urban. Natti Natasha had the most nominations with 14, followed by J Balvin and Bad Bunny with 12 each. Voting started on January 8 and lasted until January 22, 2019. Ozuna had the most wins of the night with nine, followed by Reik and Wisin with five, and Natti Natasha with four.
The 2019 edition of Premios Lo Nuestro debuted seven new categories: Sierreño Artist of the Year, reflecting the fusion of regional Mexican sounds; Replay Song of the Year, recognizing the popularity of classic hits that fans continue listening to; Single of the Year, the launch of a single song that became a hit; Crossover Collaboration of the Year, hit song in which an Anglo artist is featured; Remix of the Year, popular song in which more than three artists are featured; Social Artist of the Year, renowned artist who shares and engages the most with fans across social media platforms; and Tour of the Year, recognizing sold-out concert tours. Natti Natasha had the most nominations with 14, followed by J Balvin and Bad Bunny with 12 each, Ozuna with 10, Nicky Jam with eight, and Maluma, Becky G, and Wisin all with 7. Brazilian singer Anitta nabbed four nominations, including revelation of the year. Reik is a Mexican pop rock band from Mexicali, Baja California, formed in 2003 by Jesús Alberto Navarro Rosas, Julio Ramírez Eguía, and Gilberto Marín Espinoza (guitar). The group's first five albums have been classified as Latin pop, but the group has since transitioned to a more urban-influenced sound since 2015. Reik has won a Latin Billboard Music Award, four Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica awards, and a Latin Grammy.
Juan Luis Morera Luna, best known by his stage name Wisin, is a Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer, best known as a member of the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel. Wisin is noted for his unique and aggressive style of rapping.

Leading the list of nominees were J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Paulo Londra with five nominations each and Anitta with three nominations under her belt.

Los Legendarios is a duo of reggaeton music producers, originally from Puerto Rico, made up of Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres. The Baja Beach Fest is a reggaeton & latin music festival. The festival was inaugurated in 2018 and is held annually at Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.

The Premios Tu Música Urbano is an award presented by television network Telemundo Puerto Rico to recognize artists who "transcended and boosted the success of Latin urban music around the world." The show is held annually at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico since 2019, is produced by Telemundo, Sora & Company and Mr. & Mrs. Entertainment, and is broadcast by Telemundo Puerto Rico in Latin America and by Telemundo in the United States. The awards were created in response to the lack of representation of reggaeton and Latin trap artists in the Latin Grammy Awards main categories and the absence of a separate Latin urban category at the Grammy Awards.

The ceremony took place at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the second year in a row. It was broadcast live on Univision. The ceremoy was hosted by Mexican singer Ángela Aguilar, Mexican TV host Alejandra Espinoza, Puerto Rican actress Dayanara Torres, and Brazilian actor Marcus Ornellas.
