The 31st Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin Senate. [1] Located in western Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Eau Claire County, southeast Dunn County, and parts of southern Chippewa County and northern Trempealeau County. It includes the cities of Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Menomonie. [2]
Jeff Smith is the senator representing the 31st district. He was first elected in 2018 general election. He previously served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2007 through 2011. [3]
Each Wisconsin State Senate district is composed of three Wisconsin State Assembly districts. The 31st Senate district comprises the 91st, 92nd, and 93rd Assembly districts. The current representatives of those districts are:
The district is located almost entirely within Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district, which is represented by U.S. Representative Derrick Van Orden. The exception is one area of Chippewa County which falls within Wisconsin's 7th congressional district, represented by Tom Tiffany. [7]

Eau Claire County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 105,710. Its county seat is Eau Claire. The county took its name from the Eau Claire River.
Eau Claire is a city in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is the seat of Eau Claire County. It had a population of 69,421 in 2020, making it the state's eighth-most populous city. It is the principal city of the Eau Claire metropolitan area, locally known as the Chippewa Valley, which had 172,007 residents in 2020.
The Eau Claire metropolitan area refers loosely to the urbanized area along the Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers, in west-central Wisconsin, with its primary center at Eau Claire and secondary centers at Chippewa Falls and Altoona.
Kathleen M. "Kathy" Bernier is an American politician in Wisconsin who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate representing the 23rd district from 2019–2023. She previously was the Chippewa County Clerk from 1998–2011, and served in the Wisconsin State Assembly for the 68th district from 2011 to 2019. In March 2018, Bernier announced that she would run to represent the 23rd district in the Wisconsin State Senate, an open seat due to the retirement of Terry Moulton. She was elected in the November election.
Warren Petryk is an American Republican politician in the Wisconsin State Assembly. He has been a member of the Assembly since 2011, representing Pierce County, Pepin County, and parts of Eau Claire, Dunn, St. Croix, and Buffalo counties. He has been the Chair of Assembly Committee on Workforce Development since 2015.
The 25th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin Senate. Located in northwest Wisconsin, where Wisconsin meets Lake Superior, the district comprises all of Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Polk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties. It contains the cities of Superior, Ashland, Bayfield, Hayward, Spooner, and Washburn. The district also includes the Bad River Indian reservation and the Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest.

Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises much of eastern Dane County, western Jefferson County, and part of southwest Dodge County. It includes the cities of Fitchburg, Fort Atkinson, Lake Mills, Stoughton, Sun Prairie, and Waterloo, and the villages of Cottage Grove, Deerfield, and Marshall, and parts of the city of Madison and the village of McFarland. Located in east-central Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of northeast Winnebago County and southern Outagamie County. It contains landmarks such as College Avenue Historic District, Lawrence University, and the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh campus.

Located in northwest Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Barron, Clark, Price, Rusk, and Taylor counties, with most of Chippewa County, northern Dunn County, and parts of northwest Marathon County. The district is mostly rural, but contains the cities of Bloomer, Ladysmith, Medford, Neillsville, and Rice Lake.

Located in west-central Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Jackson County, most of Juneau County, most of northern Adams County, eastern and northern Monroe County, southern Wood County, and central and southwest Portage County. It contains the cities of Black River Falls, Stevens Point, Tomah, and Wisconsin Rapids, and the U.S. Army base Fort McCoy.

Located in western Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of western Eau Claire County, northern Trempealeau County, and southeast Dunn County. It includes the western half of the city of Eau Claire, along with the city of Osseo and the villages of Eleva and Strum. It contains landmarks such as the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire campus, the Eau Claire campus of Chippewa Valley Technical College, Carson Park, and Water Street Historic District. The district is represented by Republican Warren Petryk, since January 2011.
