Franks-A-Lot, or Franks A Lot, [1] is a hot dog restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Previously, the business operated as The Dog House.
Franks-A-Lot is a restaurant in the Whole Foods parking lot on East Burnside Street in the Kerns neighborhood. Housed in a small A-frame cottage, the restaurant has "always focused on quick, take-away, drive-thru dogs", according to Thrillist. [2] The menu has included the Great American Frank, the Long Wiener Frank (a longer version of a standard hot dog), and Chicago-style hot dogs with or without toppings, as well as German sausages, polish hot dogs, and vegetable franks. [3] The Jumbo American has sweet-hot mustard, jalapeños, and sauerkraut. [4] There are vegan options as well. [5] In 2014, Samantha Bakall of The Oregonian said the restaurant "has the vibe of a Chicago joint" and described the Chicago-style hot dog as an "all-beef frank topped with yellow mustard, relish, cucumbers, red onions, sport peppers, fresh tomato slices and celery salt". In 2022, Nathan Williams of Eater Portland described the cottage as "faux-Bavarian" and said the business serves "jumbo-sized" hot dogs and hand-made milkshakes. There are seven outdoor tables for seating, only one of which is covered, as of 2022. [1]

Douglas Perry included Franks-A-Lot in The Oregonian's 2008 overview of Portland's best hot dogs. [3] Drew Tyson included the business in Thrillist's 2015 list of Portland's 12 best hot dog establishments and recommended the Long Wiener Frank. [7] Franks-A-Lot had a rating of four stars based on 124 Yelp reviews, as of 2019. [8] Eater Portland 's Nathan Williams included the restaurant in a 2022 list of 17 "places serving Portland's finest hot dogs" and 2023 list of the city's "snappiest, juiciest" hot dogs. [1] [9]
Otto's Sausage Kitchen, formerly Otto's Meat Market, is a sausage restaurant and meat market located in the Woodstock neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, United States. German immigrant Otto Eichentopf established Otto's Meat Market in Aberdeen, Washington in the 1910s before relocating to Portland in 1921. Otto's Meat Market opened on Southeast Woodstock Boulevard in 1922. A new building was constructed at its current location in 1936–1937. Eichentopf's son Edwin acquired the store in the 1940s; Edwin's son Jerry, who began working at Otto's full-time starting at age eighteen, acquired the stores in 1983. Since then, he and his wife have expanded the retail part of the store. The family, which now includes the couple's children and extended members, makes more than forty sausage varieties on site, including some based on Eichentopf's recipes from Germany.
The Dime Store was a short-lived restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in the United States. It was established by Dayna McErlean, with additional conceptual development from Jeremy Larter. The restaurant opened in 2014, replacing Leo's Non-Smoking Coffee Shop, a diner which had operated for thirty years.
