Udyog Aadhaar is a twelve digit Unique Identification Number provided by the Indian Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises beginning in September 2015. [2] [3] It is also known as Aadhaar for business. [4] As of July 2018, more than 4.8 million (48 lakh) MSMEs [1] in India are registered under Udyog Aadhaar. [5]
In 2020, the Government of India replaced Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam Registration. As of October 2023, over 2.81 crore MSMEs have registered under Udyam, including those migrated from the previous Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (EAM) scheme. [6] As of July 31, 2024, the Udyam Registration Portal had registered 4.77 crore MSMEs, with 2.49 crore registrations in the fiscal year 2023-24. [7]
The Udyam registration process requires basic documents, such as the Permanent account number number and Aadhaar number of the individual associated with the enterprise. [8]
