Finlayson Point Provincial Park is a provincial park in Temagami, northeastern Ontario, Canada, just west of Ontario Highway 11. It offers access to Lake Temagami and the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park. [3] There is a plaque in the park honouring English naturalist Grey Owl. [3]

Ishpatina Ridge

Ishpatina Ridge is the highest point of land in the Canadian province of Ontario, at an estimated 693 m (2,274 ft) above sea level. Ishpatina Ridge rises approximately 300 m (984 ft) above the immediate area. Copperfields Mine

Copperfields Mine, originally known as Temagami Mine, is an abandoned copper and silver mine on Temagami Island in Lake Temagami, Ontario, Canada. The mine opened in 1955 and comprises both underground and surface workings within a sulfide ore body. Situated in Phyllis Township, the mine produced 34,000,000 dollars Canadian with 80 million pounds of copper, 230,028 ounces of silver and 13,271 ounces of gold. It was considered to be the largest deposit of nearly pure chalcopyrite ever discovered in Canada. A mill was not initially needed because the ore was 28% copper. The mine closed in 1972 and is now flooded by water. Ruins of the Copperfields mill are present as foundations. It is possible to find mineral specimens in the spoil heaps of the old mine, such as chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, malachite, dolomite, hessite, merenskyite, millerite, palladium, quartz and others. The Lake Temagami Access Road was created to ship ore from the mine site.

Maple Mountain (Ontario)

Maple Mountain is a mountain, located within Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park, Northeastern Ontario, Canada, estimated 642 m (2,106 ft) above mean sea level. It has a higher vertical rise over the surrounding landscape, 37 m (121 ft) higher than the Ishpatina Ridge, which is the highest point of land in Ontario rising over Scarecrow Lake. Maple Mountain rises over Tupper Lake and is considerably better known than Ishpatina Ridge. It ranks thirteenth, but when ranked by vertical rise it is the highest of the top 25 peaks in Ontario. The 100-ft fire tower is also still intact and attracts many hikers. A 3.2 kilometre long hiking trail leads to the abandoned fire tower.

The Sturgeon River Waterway Provincial Park consists of 33.5 km2 (12.9 sq mi) of protected wilderness along the Sturgeon River, starting at Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park in the Timiskaming District in Ontario, Canada, and ends south of the Obabika River and Lower Goose Falls. The park is one of the several provincial parks located in the Temagami area. It also connects with Solace Provincial Park, Chiniguchi Waterway Provincial Park, and Obabika River Provincial Park. All parks are managed by Ontario Parks.

North Bay 69

North Bay 69 was a forest fire burning in Strathcona Township of Temagami, Ontario, Canada. The fire, which was started by a lightning strike, was reported on July 8, 2018 and threatened the nearby town of Temagami, as well as forced evacuation of some residents along Highway 11 south of the town. North Bay 69 was extinguished on August 15, leaving behind a burned area measuring 221 hectares.
