The 1938 California Secretary of State election was held on November 8, 1938. Incumbent Republican Frank C. Jordan won both the Democratic and Republican primaries, and easily defeated Communist nominee Leo Gallagher and Prohibitionist nominee Nellie S. Harriss in the general election with 90.34% of the vote.

The 2006 California gubernatorial election occurred on November 7, 2006. The primary elections took place on June 6, 2006. The incumbent Republican Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, won re-election for his first and only full term. His main opponent was California State Treasurer Phil Angelides, the California Democratic Party nominee. Peter Camejo was the California Green Party nominee, Janice Jordan was the Peace and Freedom Party nominee, Art Olivier was the California Libertarian Party nominee, and Edward C. Noonan was the California American Independent Party nominee.
The 1932 United States Senate election in California was held on November 2, 1932. Incumbent Republican Senator Samuel Morgan Shortridge ran for a third term in office, but lost a highly competitive four-way Republican primary to Tallant Tubbs, who ran as a "wet" or anti-prohibition candidate.

Incumbent Republican Governor Philip La Follette was defeated in the Republican primary, and in the midst of the Great Depression and nationwide voter dissatisfaction with the Republican Party, Democratic nominee Albert G. Schmedeman defeated Republican nominee Walter J. Kohler Sr. and Socialist nominee Frank Metcalfe with 52.48% of the vote. Schmedeman became the first Democrat to win a gubernatorial election in Wisconsin since George Wilbur Peck in 1892. 2 years later, in 1934, La Follette would run for governor again and defeated Schmedeman, this time running with the Progressive Party.
