The 2006 California State Assembly elections were held on November 7, 2006. Voters in all 80 districts of the California State Assembly voted for their representatives. The California Democratic Party retained its majority with 48 seats. The California Republican Party retained control of the remaining 32 seats. Neither party lost or gained any seats.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2005 California's 48th congressional district special election</span>

In the fall of 2005, a special election was held in California's 48th congressional district to choose a United States representative to replace Republican Christopher Cox, who resigned effective August 2, 2005, to become Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. A Special primary election was held on October 4. Because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a runoff general election took place on December 6, 2005. The top vote getter from each party moved to the runoff contest, which only required a candidate to receive a plurality of the vote. Republican candidate John Campbell ultimately won the runoff with only 44% of the vote, as there were three major candidates, rather than the usual two.

The California state elections, 2006 took place on November 7, 2006. Necessary primary elections were held on June 6. Among the elections that took place were all the seats of the California's State Assembly, 20 seats of the State Senate, seven constitutional officers, and all the seats of the Board of Equalization. Votes on retention of two Supreme Court justices and various Courts of Appeal judges were also held. Five propositions were also up for approval.

The 2006 California State Senate elections were held on November 7, 2006. Voters in the 20 even-numbered districts of the California State Senate voted for their representatives. The California Democratic Party retained its majority and its 25 seats. The California Republican Party retained control of the remaining 15 seats. Neither party lost nor gained any seats.

Seven ballot measures were also up for approval. Municipal offices were also included in the election.

The 1994 California State Assembly elections were held on November 8, 1994. California's State Assembly in its entirety comes up for election in even numbered years. Each seat has a two-year term and members are limited to three 2-year terms. All 80 biennially elected seats in the Assembly were up for election this year. Republicans gained a net of eight seats from the Democrats, taking control of the chamber by a slim margin. However, Assemblyman Paul Horcher soon left the party to become an independent, allowing Speaker Willie Brown to remain in power for a few months until Horcher was recalled.

The California state elections, June 2010 were held on June 8, 2010 and included five propositions and two special elections, one for a State Senate seat and the other for a State Assembly seat. Primary elections for all statewide offices, a seat to the United States Senate, all Californian seats to the House of Representatives, all of the seats of the State Assembly, and all even-numbered seats of the State Senate, along with the first round election for the nonpartisan Superintendent of Public Instruction were also held.

The California state special elections, 2009 were held on May 19, 2009, throughout the state of California. The elections were authorized by the State Legislature and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as a part of a budget signed into law on February 19, 2009. Voters voted on six ballot propositions, 1A through 1F, for the open 26th State Senate district seat, and in a primary for the open 32nd congressional district seat. All of the propositions except 1F were defeated.

John DiMaio is an American Republican Party politician, who was selected on February 21, 2009 to fill the New Jersey General Assembly seat for the 23rd legislative district vacated by Marcia A. Karrow, after Karrow filled the vacancy for the New Jersey Senate in the same district. He has been co-chair of the Republican Conference, alongside Nancy Munoz, since January 14, 2020. He was elected Minority Leader of the General Assembly after Jon Bramnick was elected to the State Senate.
