The 2014 Nebraska Attorney General election was held on November 3, 2014, to elect the attorney general of the U.S. state of Nebraska. [1] Incumbent Republican attorney general Jon Bruning did not run for re-election to a fourth term. He instead ran unsuccessfully for governor. [2] [3] Republican Candidate and former Lincoln County attorney Doug Peterson defeated Democratic candidate and former attorney Janet Stewart, Peterson receiving 66.0% of the vote to Stewart's 33.9%. [1]

Incumbent Republican Attorney General Doug Peterson Omaha attorney Evangelos Argyrakis, ran in the Democratic primary. However, after being charged with felony strangulation following an altercation with his 82-year-old father on April 8, 2018, Nebraska Democratic Party called on him to step aside, which he did on June 25, 2018. This left Peterson running unopposed in the general election.
