Background

The term of office for those elected in 2014 began when the House of Representatives convened in January 2015. Pennsylvania State Representatives are elected for two-year terms, with all 203 seats up for election every two years. [2] [ circular reference ]

Republicans gained eight seats to expand their majority in the chamber over the Democrats. [3]

Each state set its own date for its elections to the House of Representatives before the first session of the 13th United States Congress convened on May 24, 1813. They coincided with James Madison being re-elected president.
