This is a list of the largest parks located entirely within a metropolitan area. Park systems are included, but not ranked because park systems are networks that contain multiple parks. Not all parks listed below are classified as urban parks by their managing authority.

Laid out on the site of Tottenham Wood and the later Tottenham Wood Farm, the park and palace were named in 1863, the year of the marriage of Alexandra of Denmark to the Prince of Wales who became King Edward VII.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Provincial park</span> Protected area managed at the provincial level

A provincial park is a park administered by one of the provinces of a country, as opposed to a national park. They are similar to state parks in other countries. They are typically open to the public for recreation. Their environment may be more or less strictly protected.

The London Borough of Bexley owns and maintains over 100 parks and open spaces within its boundaries, with a total of 638 hectares. They include small gardens, river and woodland areas, and large parks with many sporting and other facilities.

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, in spite of being close to the centre of London and perhaps retaining the idea of it being the docklands area, has over 100 areas of parks and open spaces within its boundaries. These range from the huge to small gardens and squares. In common with all the London boroughs, these green spaces provide "lungs" for the leisure pursuits of the inhabitants.

Daylighting is the opening up and restoration of a previously buried watercourse, one which had at some point been diverted below ground. Typically, the rationale behind returning the riparian environment of a stream, wash, or river to a more natural above-ground state is to reduce runoff, create habitat for species in need of it, or improve an area's aesthetics. In the United Kingdom, the practice is also known as deculverting.

Green space in central London consists of five of the capital's eight Royal Parks, supplemented by a number of small garden squares scattered throughout the city centre. The Public Transport Authority is a local government body organising public transport in Warsaw and surrounding metropolitan area. Services managed by the Authority are corporately branded as Warszawski Transport Publiczny. The Harpeth Hills Flying Monkey Marathon is a 26.2-mile (42.2 km) road race in Percy Warner Park, the larger of the Warner Parks in Nashville, Tennessee. It was created to be among the top five most difficult road marathons in the United States, and was designed to be somewhat anti-establishment and grassroots in character. In particular, the Harpeth Hills Flying Monkey Marathon is consciously not part of any running series and is neither certified nor sanctioned by the USATF, but is the standard 42.195 kilometres (26.219 mi). A runner cannot use this race to qualify for the Boston Marathon. This marathon was initially dreamt up by a broad array of Middle Tennessee runners and was first described on an internet message board dedicated to Middle Tennessee runners. The original organizers included Trent Rosenbloom, The Nashville Striders, Peter Pressman, Diana Bibeau, and others.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Warner Parks</span> United States historic place

Edwin Warner Park and Percy Warner Park, collectively known as Warner Parks, are two major public parks in Nashville, Tennessee. They are part of the park system managed by the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation of Nashville and Davidson County. Percy Warner Park's front entrance is located at the end of Belle Meade Boulevard. The parks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Warner Park Historic District. The district is primarily within Nashville along the southern edge of Davidson County, Tennessee, but it extends into Williamson County, Tennessee as well.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Irving Nature Park</span>

The Irving Nature Park is a free park in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, close to the nearby urban centre, only minutes away from the uptown area. This environmental retreat was developed with the intention of protecting the environment. It encompasses a total of 243 hectares and is sandwiched between a salt marsh and the Bay of Fundy. The park is owned and operated by JD Irving and is open annually from May through October for motor-vehicle traffic.

Urban parks in Canada are areas that offer recreation and green spaces to residents of a municipality. An urban park is often owned or maintained by a municipal government. However, several parks and green spaces may also be maintained or owned by a conservation authority, regional government, provincial government, or the federal government. Canada's national parks system, managed by Parks Canada, includes one urban park, although the agency has plans to create additional national urban parks.

Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area is a 761-hectare (1,880-acre) conservation area in New South Wales Australia, approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Newcastle. It is made up of six separate land sections around the coastal saltwater Lake Macquarie, covering 16 kilometres (10 mi) of the lake's foreshore. Though most of the area was declared in 1996 one section, the Morisset area, was added in January 1999.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Morden Park (park)</span>

Morden Park is a 50-hectare (120-acre) public park and Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade 1, in the district of Morden Park in the London Borough of Merton. Of this, 28 hectares is a Local Nature Reserve. It is owned and managed by Merton Council. It includes Morden Park House.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Vinmont Veteran Park</span> Playground in the Bronx, New York

Vinmont Veteran Park is a 3.5-acre (1.4-hectare) park and playground in the Riverdale section of The Bronx. It includes bathrooms, a playground, a woodland area and the Sid Augarten baseball field. The site was acquired by New York City in 1945 and 1947 and opened as a park in 1951. Originally named the PS 81 Playground after a neighboring public school it was renamed in 1986 in honor of military veterans in the Vinmont neighborhood.
