MTV is an Asian music pay-television channel that was originally launched on 15 September 1991 as a music channel exclusively on the STAR TV platform, and then on 3 May 1995 as a standalone pay TV channel. It is owned by ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA.

History

MTV Asia was launched on 15 September 1991, a joint venture between STAR TV and Viacom, but later STAR TV's contract with MTV expired on 30 April 1994. This led to the birth of Channel [V].

MTV Mandarin was launched on 25 April 1995 as a 24-hour Chinese language channel broadcast from Singapore serving Mandarin-speaking Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Singapore.

MTV Asia was launched on 3 May 1995 as a 24-hour English-language channel broadcast from Singapore seen throughout Asia in territories including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, the Middle East, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

MTV partners with domestic media companies to produce local-language content for its channels in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. [1]

Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Television broadcaster in Hong Kong

Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited is a Hong Kong-based commercial broadcasting company which is a part of Disney International Operations's Fox Networks Group, operating multiple specialty television channels. It was previously traded as Star TV until 2001, and simply as Star until 2009. Originally established by Hutchison Whampoa and later acquired by the original News Corporation, Star TV was once the prominent satellite television broadcaster in the entire Asia region. Channel V Asian music television channel

Channel [V] is an Asian pay music television network owned by Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific, a pay-TV channel unit of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International. It was launched by what was back then STAR TV to replace MTV's original Asian operation. The Mainland Chinese version is owned by Star China Media and the Australian channels were owned by Foxtel until their closures.

AXN Pay television, cable and satellite television channel

Star Chinese Channel Taiwanese Mandarin general entertainment television channel

Star Chinese Channel is a Taiwanese Mandarin general entertainment television channel operated by Star China Media and Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific. Its programming features drama, variety, lifestyle, and talk shows in Mandarin. Launched on 21 October 1991 at 16:30 Hong Kong Time by Star TV, the channel originally targeted audiences in Greater China broadcasting in both Mandarin and Cantonese, before it reduced broadcasting area to just Taiwan and began broadcasting only in Mandarin on 31 March 1996.

Xing Kong

Xing Kong is a Mandarin-language television channel targeting Mainland China, currently owned by Star China Media. The channel was originally launched by Star in Hong Kong, but Star later sold the channel to China Media Capital. It was voted "Satellite Channel of the Year" at the 2002 China Television Programme Awards. The channel is packed with more than 700 hours of original programming each year, with content that includes drama series, music, news, cartoon, comedies, variety, lifestyle, health, food, home and living, talk and game shows. Xing Kong was similar to other Mandarin language entertainment channels like Star Chinese Channel in Taiwan and Phoenix Chinese Channel.

Disney Channel (Asian TV channel) pan-Asian pay television channel

Disney Channel is a pan-Asian pay television channel owned by The Walt Disney Company. Most of its original programming is aimed at pre-teens and adolescents ages 10–16 while its Disney Junior programs are targeted at younger children, although certain programs are aimed at audiences of all ages. The channel's programming consists of original first-run television series, theatrically-released and original made-for-cable movies and select other third-party programming. Some countries do not carry the channel, due to either a lack of capacity or government restrictions.

Taiwanese drama refers to dramatic programming of television programming extended stories usually dramatizing relationships through the general range of ten to forty one-hour episodes. They are produced in Taiwan and have gained increasing popularity in the Mandarin-speaking community internationally. The term "Taiwanese drama" is applied to Taiwanese miniseries in general, even including those with greater elements of comedy than of drama.

Cartoon Network is a pan-Asian pay television channel that primarily broadcasts animated series. Operated by AT&T's WarnerMedia under its International division, the channel is broadcast from its headquarters in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia to audiences in its country of location, as well as to Hong Kong, Macau and the rest of Asia. It was launched on 6 October 1994.

MTV Mandarin Asian music television channel

MTV Mandarin is a 24-hour music channel which airs Chinese and international music programs owned by ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA. One of the first three MTV Asia channels along with MTV Asia and MTV India. MTV Mandarin has two different feeds. The channel broadcasts in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Allied Pacific Sports Network ("APSN") was one of the earliest over-the-top content OTT companies in Asia. Founded in 2009, APSN was the first provider of multiple live streamed sports in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. APSN ceased operations in 2012. In 2011, APSN streamed more than 5,000 hour of live sports. These sports included Major League Baseball, the Premier League, Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and the National Hockey League. Celestial Tiger Entertainment Media company

Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), formerly Tiger Gate Entertainment, is a diversified media company based in Hong Kong that operates pay television entertainment channels in Asia and oversees Lionsgate distribution rights in Greater China and Southeast Asia. It is a joint venture co-owned by Saban Capital Group, Lionsgate and Celestial Pictures.

Nickelodeon is a Philippine pay television channel that was launched on 1 April 2011 as a localised variant of American channel Nickelodeon, with programming aimed at children and teenagers. It is owned by ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA in partnership with All Youth Channels. Upon its launch, it replaced the Southeast Asian feed of Nickelodeon in the Philippines, which used to be distributed in the country since its launch in 1998.

Nickelodeon is a Southeast Asian pay television channel operated by ViacomCBS, broadcasting from Singapore to the audiences in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Launched on 5 November 1998, the channel broadcasts Nickelodeon's original series, being a version of the namesake television channel in the United States, but it also airs the shows from third-party companies. Disney Junior is a Southeast Asian pay television channel owned by The Walt Disney Company. Aimed mainly for children between 2 through 8 years of age, its programming consists of original first-run television series, theatrically-released and made-for-DVD movies and select other third-party programming. Disney Junior also lends its name to an early morning program block seen on sister network Disney Channel, branded as "Disney Junior on Disney Channel."

The Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC) is an association of episcopal conferences of Catholic Church in South, Southeast, East and Central Asia. The federation fosters solidarity and joint responsibility for the welfare of the Church and of society in the region.

The usage of Chinese by the Chinese diaspora and their descendants has been determined by a large number of factors, including their ancestry, their migrant ancestors' "regime of origin", assimilation through generational changes, and official policies of their country of residence. The general trend is that more established Chinese populations in the Western world and in many regions of Asia have Cantonese as either the dominant variety or as a common community vernacular, while Mandarin is much more prevalent among new arrivals, making it increasingly common in many Chinatowns, though still not dominant.
