A post office called Pritchett has been in operation since 1927. [7] The community was named after Henry S. Pritchett, a railroad official. [8]
Pritchett is located in western Baca County at 37°22′9″N102°51′36″W / 37.36917°N 102.86000°W (37.369081, -102.860122). [9] U.S. Route 160 passes through the town, leading east 16 miles (26 km) to Springfield, the county seat, and west 106 miles (171 km) to Trinidad.
