Background

Wyoming is considered to be a deeply red state at the federal and state levels, with Trump overwhelmingly winning the state in 2024 by more than 45 points. [3] Republicans control both houses of the Wyoming Legislature with large supermajorities, the state’s entire congressional delegation, and all statewide executive offices. Wyoming has been represented in the U.S. Senate exclusively by Republicans since 1977. Cynthia Lummis was first elected in 2020, defeating Merav Ben-David by 46 percentage points to succeed longtime incumbent Senator Mike Enzi, who opted to retire. [4] [5] Wyoming is unique in its status as the "reddest" state in the entirety of the nation as it also is the least-populated state in the country. [6] Lummis raised $500,000 for her re-election bid in Q2 of 2025. [7]
