Koyambedu is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. Situated in the western part of Chennai city, the Koyambedu area has become a major hub of activity in Chennai City after the inauguration of the Koyambedu market in 1996 and the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) in 2002. The area is active round the clock owing to the movement of people and goods through the day, with uninterrupted transport facilities such as long-route buses, autos, share autos, vegetable goods carriers and so forth.

It is located on the 100 feet (30 m) Jawaharlal Nehru Salai in Koyambedu between SAF Games Village and the Koyambedu Vegetable Market. It is the second largest bus terminus in India as well as Asia. Chennai Metro Rail has operated a coach depot behind the bus terminus since 2015.

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), formerly known as the Madras Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA), is the nodal planning agency of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The CMDA administers the Chennai Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of 5,904 km2 (2,280 sq mi) and covers the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Ranipet and Kancheepuram. Arignar Anna Alandur Metro, commonly known as the Alandur Metro, is an elevated metro station that is part of the Blue Line and the Green Line of the Chennai Metro, and serves as an interchange station between the two lines. The station is one of the two metro stations where the two lines intersect, the other being the Chennai Central metro station. It is the city's first multi-level railway station. It is the only station where passengers from the two corridors can swap the direction of travel. On 31 July 2020, It has been named by Government of Tamil Nadu as Arignar Anna Alandur Metro to honor the DMK founder and the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. N. Annadurai.
Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex (KWMC) is one of Asia's largest perishable goods market complex located at Koyambedu, Chennai. The market complex is spread over an area of 295 acres (1.19 km2). Inaugurated in 1996, the complex consists of about 3,100 shops, including more than 1,000 wholesale shops and 2,000 retail shops. Of these, 850 are fruit shops. It abuts the Poonamallee High Road and Nesapakkam Road and can be easily accessed from all parts of City. In Phase I, a wholesale market for perishables was developed in an area of around 70 acres (280,000 m2) by constructing 3,194 shops. The market has two blocks for vegetable shops and one each for fruit and flower shops. In Phase II, a textile market and in Phase III, a food grain market have been planned to be developed in the complex.

On 31 July 2020, It has been named by Government of Tamil Nadu as Puratchi Thalaivi Dr. J. Jayalalithaa CMBT Metro to honor the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa, who inaugurated the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R Bus Terminus, Asia's biggest bus terminus and the metro station.

This station will serve the neighbourhoods where the old village of Thirumangalam once stood and now the area where the Thirumangalam Flyover, a prominent landmark and referred to by residents when giving directions.

Saidapet is an underground metro station on the North-South Corridor of the Blue Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. This station serves the neighbourhood of Saidapet. The station has a length of 230 to 250 meters. The station was opened for public on 25 May 2018.
Madhavaram Mofussil Bus Terminus is a bus terminus in Chennai, India, located in the neighbourhood of Madhavaram, providing outstation/inter-state transport services. Spread over an area of 8 acres (32,000 m2), it was built to decongest the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu. It will chiefly handle buses to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including cities such as Chittoor, Tirupati, Nellore, Vijayawada, Kurnool, Puttaparthi, Visakhapatnam, Bhadrachalam, and Hyderabad. As of 2018, the number of passengers travelling from Chennai to these two states daily average 12,500. The Tamil Nadu and Andhra governments operate about 315 services daily, which increases during weekends.
Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, officially Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus, is a bus terminus in Kilambakkam, a southern suburb of Chennai, India. Situated along the GST Road, it caters to the bus services towards the Southern districts of Tamil Nadu. It became operational on 30 December 2023. Spread over an area of 88.52 acres (358,200 m2), it is built to decongest the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu. It will chiefly handle buses to southern Tamil Nadu, including cities such as Dindigul, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Sengottai, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur and to major cities in Kerala including Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur, Munnar and Guruvayoor. It is an integrated bus terminus of mofussil buses operated by TNSTC, SETC, Kerala KSRTC, KSRTC SWIFT and contractual (omni) buses. It will be connected to other parts of the Chennai Metropolitan Area and suburbs by MTC buses. It is Asia's biggest bus station.

Ramachandran Central metro station, is an underground metro station on the North-South Corridor of the Blue Line and Green Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. Central metro station is spread over an area of 30,000 square metres (320,000 sq ft). On 31 July 2020, It has been named by Government of Tamil Nadu as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Metro to honor the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam founder and the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran.
The Orange Line or Line 4 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. The line will consist of 27 stations, out of which 9 are underground and 18 are elevated.
The Red Line or Line 5 is one of the three lines of Chennai Metro, Phase 2 Project. The under construction line stretches from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur. The line will consist of 45 stations, of which 6 are underground, 1 is at grade and 38 are elevated. The government has announced feasibility studies to extend metro rail's corridor-5 from Koyambedu to Pattabiram via Thirumangalam, Mogappair, Ambattur and Avadi. At present, the proposed corridor-5 links Madhavaram with Sholinganallur via Koyambedu, Alandur and Madipakkam.
