It is currently represented by state senator Ben Toews, Republican of Coeur d'Alene, [2] as well as state representatives Joe Alfieri, Republican of Coeur d'Alene, and Elaine Price, Republican of Coeur d'Alene. [3]
From 1992 to 2002, District 4 consisted of Shoshone County ana a portion of Benewah and Kootenai Counties.

James C. Hammond is the current mayor of Coeur d'Alene. Prior to his current office, he served as mayor of Post Falls, Idaho and was a Republican Idaho State Senator from 2006–2012, where he represented the 5th District. He is married to Cynthia Hammond and has three children: Sean, T.J., and Kurt. He was elected as mayor of Coeur d'Alene in November 2021, and he has been portrayed as a moderate Republican.
Kathleen Sims was an American politician. She served as a Republican Idaho State Representative for District 4 in the B seat for 2010 to 2016. She was previously appointed as the Idaho State Senator for District 4 to fill the vacancy when Jack Riggs resigned to serve as lieutenant governor; Sims served from 2000 until 2002.
