Survivors took to a lifeboat; they were rescued by the schooner Aspia (Civil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom ). Eliza was on a voyage from Liverpool, Lancashire to Monte Video, Uruguay. [7] [8]
OspreyCivil Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg  United Kingdom The steamship ran aground on the Sizewell Bank, in the North Sea off the coast of Suffolk. She broke her propeller and sprang a leak. She was on a voyage from Hartlepool, County Durham to London. She was later refloated and taken in to Harwich, Essex. [2] [9]
Queen of the BayFlag of the Confederate States of America (1861-1863).svg  Confederate States of America American Civil War, Union blockade: Chased by boats from the gunboat USS Sachem (Flag of the United States (1861-1863).svg  United States Navy) while taking depth soundings in Corpus Christi Pass off Corpus Christi, Texas, the steamer ran aground on Padre Island. Her crew then prevented her from being captured by driving off the boats with small arms fire. [10]
