Whichello is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. [2] In the 2016 census, Whichello had a population of 31 people. [1]
Whichello is on the Darling Downs in southern Queensland.
Whichello is similar to many of the localities in the eastern Downs, with the land mostly cleared for agriculture and few facilities or amenities.
The Pechey-Maclagan Road runs through from east to south. [3]
Whichello Provisional School opened on 18 April 1894. On 1 January 1909, it became Whichello State School. It closed on 22 January 1942. [4] [5] It was on a 5-acre (2.0 ha) site on the northern side of Whichello School Road ( 27°17′32″S152°00′39″E / 27.29223°S 152.01097°E ). [6] [7] The site is now a park. [8]
Whichello Methodist Church opened in March 1907. [9] It was on a 1-acre (0.40 ha) on the northern side of Whichello School Road ( 27°17′35″S152°00′51″E / 27.29296°S 152.01425°E ), appox 325 metres (1,066 ft) east of the school. [6] [7] The timber church could seat 50 people. In 1952, the church building was relocated to Wilsonton. [10]
