Pinelands is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. [2] In the 2021 census, Pinelands had a population of 81 people. [1]
The New England Highway passes through from south-east to north. [3]
In November 1893, the Pine Lands Estate was auctioned off in 40-acre (16 ha) blocks, a total of "9000 acres of the richest farm land in Australia". [4]
Pinelands Provisional School opened on 17 October 1904. On 1 January 1909, it became Pinelands State School. It closed in 1960. [5] It was at 6778 New England Highway ( 27°14′30″S152°00′37″E / 27.2417°S 152.0104°E ). [6] [7] [8]
St Catherine's Anglican Church was dedicated on Sunday 19 September 1909. It was on land donated by Chas Brewer. [9] [10] Its last service was held on 15 April 1951; 70 people attended and held a picnic after the service. The land was sold in 1953. [11]
Pinelands Methodist Church opened on Sunday 21 July 1912. [12] It has closed and been demolished. [13]

The Shire of Crows Nest was a local government area in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia, immediately northeast of the regional city of Toowoomba. The shire, administered from the town of Crows Nest, covered an area of 1,629.9 square kilometres (629.3 sq mi), and existed as a local government entity from 1913 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several other councils in the Toowoomba area to form the Toowoomba Region. Its growth in later years has been fuelled by the expansion of Toowoomba, particularly the suburbs of Highfields and Blue Mountain Heights which, with a combined population of 7,333 in 2006, were home to over half the shire's population.
