Doddarange Gowda is a Kannada poet and a lyricist working for Kannada cinema. [1] He is a retired professor of Kannada and has published a number of anthologies in Kannada. He has brought out several audio cassettes and CDs of his poems. Some of his noteworthy songs are Tera Yeri Ambaradaage and Notadaage Nageya Meeti of Parasangada Gendethimma, Nammoora Mandara Hoove of Aalemane, Sri Rama Bandavne of Paduvaaralli Pandavaru. [2] He was also a Bharatiya Janata Party MLC. [3] In 2018, he was awarded with the civilian award Padma Shri. [4]

Doddarange Gowda was born on 7 February 1946 to K. Range Gowda and Akkamma.[ citation needed ]

Career

Doddarange Gowda worked as a professor of Kannada in SLN College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Bengaluru and later served as Principal. He has penned more than 500 Kannada cinema songs with many achieving critical acclaim and awards. He has written dialogues for more than 10 films and has scripted over 100 tele-serials.

Ulta Palta (transl. Topsy-turvy) is a 1997 Indian Kannada film directed by N. S. Shankar and starring Ramesh Aravind, Kashi and Sushma Veer. It is based on Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. The music of the film was composed by V. Manohar. The film was remade in Telugu language with the same name (1998) and in Tamil as Ambuttu Imbuttu Embuttu (2005) starring Ashok Kashyap who was one of the co-producers and cinematographer of the film. The entire film was shot in Koppa, a town in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka.

H. S. Phani Ramachandra is a Kannada film and television director. He is known for directing such classic Kannada comedy films as Ganeshana Maduve and Gauri Ganesha and the TV serial Danda Pindagalu. His films mainly portray middle class Karnataka society in a comic light.

Aarathi is an Indian actress who predominantly acted in Kannada language films during the 1970s and 1980s. She has won the Filmfare awards South and the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress four times each. After her retirement from films in the mid 1980s, she staged a comeback in 2005 as a director with Mithayi Mane which met with critical appreciation and also won her the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Children's Film.

Lokesh was an Indian stage actor turned film actor, who appeared in Kannada feature films. His wife Girija Lokesh is a film actress and film director. His father was Subbaiah Naidu, who is credited to be first hero of Kannada silent movies.

Rangayana Raghu Indian theatre, film actor

Kotturu Chikkarangappa Raghunath, known by his screen name Rangayana Raghu, is an Indian film and stage actor, known for his work in Kannada cinema. Portraying mostly comic and negative-shaded characters, he has appeared in over 250 films. Prior to acting in films, he worked as a stage actor with B. V. Karanth's theatre group Rangayana, from 1988 to 1999. He made his debut in films in 1995 with Suggi, which got shelved.

<i>Aalemane</i>

Aalemane is a 1981 Kannada movie, starring Suresh Heblikar, Mohan Kumar, Roopa Chakravarthi and Upasane Seetaram. The film was directed by Mohan Kumar and features musical score by the Ashwath-Vaidi duo. The film was a musical hit and won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Lyricist for Doddarange Gowda.

<i>Rosappu Ravikkaikari</i> 1979 film by Devaraj–Mohan

Rosappu Ravikkaikari is a 1979 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by Devaraj–Mohan and produced by Thirupur Mani. A remake of the 1978 Kannada film Parasangada Gendethimma starring Lokesh, itself adapted from Srikrishna Alanahalli's novella of the same name, the film stars Sivakumar, Deepa and Sivachandran. Set in British-ruled India, it revolves around a modern woman who cannot tolerate her rustic husband and her mother-in-law, and engages in an extramarital affair.

Dheerendra Gopal

Gopal Rao, known by his stage name Dheerendra Gopal, was an Indian film and stage actor known for his work in Kannada films. He acted in over 350 films and was predominantly recognized for his performances in villainous and comic roles. After making his film debut with Subhadra Kalyana (1972), he received recognition for his performance in Puttanna Kanagal's Paduvaaralli Pandavaru (1978).

Parasangada Gendethimma is a 1978 Indian Kannada-language drama film directed by Maruthi Shivram, based on a novel of the same by Srikrishna Alanahalli. It stars Lokesh in the lead role and the supporting cast features Reeta Anchan, B. R. Jayaram, and Ramakrishna.

Mysore Mallige(meaning:Jasmine of Mysuru) is a 1992 Indian Kannada drama film directed and co-written by T. S. Nagabharana and produced by Srihari Khoday. The story is based on a 1942 work of the same title by the acclaimed poet K. S. Narasimhaswamy. The film was an attempt to create a story based on the poetry.

Kavya is a 1995 Indian Kannada romantic drama film directed and co-produced by Kodlu Ramakrishna and based on the novel written by Vijaya Thandavamurthy and Ramakrishna himself. The film cast includes Ramkumar, Sudharani and Sithara in the lead roles with Sudharani playing the titular role. The film was produced under Spandana Films banner and the original score and soundtrack were composed by Sadhu Kokila.

R. Nagarathnamma

R. Nagarathnamma (1926–2012) was an Indian theatre personality and the founder of Stree Nataka Mandali, an all-women theatre group based in Bengaluru. A recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, she was honored by the Government of India, in 2012, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

Megha Mandara is a 1992 Indian Kannada romance film directed by K. V. Jayaram and produced by Meenakshi Jayaram. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by H. Girijamma. The film features Ambarish, Malashri and Anjana in the lead roles.
