The Dodgeball World Championship is a dodgeball competition for both men's and women's national teams. The event is organised by the World Dodgeball Federation, the sport's global governing body.

Contents

It was initially an open event, but stopped being an open event as the membership grew, and now works by qualification. [1] In 2021, WDBF's membership reached 80 members, all also members of the relevant continental federations. [2]

While foam was the only format used in previous editions, starting with 2022, the Dodgeball World Championship would be contested in two categories, foam and cloth. [3]

Winnipeg has been home to several professional hockey, football and baseball franchises. There have also been numerous university and amateur athletes.

The National Dodgeball League (NDL) is the only professional dodgeball league in the United States. The league was founded in 2004 and is currently headed by Commissioner Edward Prentiss out of Hopkins, MN. The league is composed of 24 professional teams, which are divided into the National and the American Dodgeball Conferences. In addition to professional dodgeball, the NDL hosts the annual amateur Dodgeball World Championship (DWC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The DWC draws dodgeball players from across the globe to compete in a tournament to determine the best amateur dodgeball team in the world. Prior DWC tournaments have included teams from Canada, Denmark, United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.
