The Mount Barker District Council is a local government area centred on the town of Mount Barker just outside the Adelaide metropolitan area in South Australia.

Dorset Vale is a rural locality near Adelaide, South Australia. It straddles three local government areas adjacent to the Onkaparinga River, being within the Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and the Onkaparinga council areas. The precise boundaries were set in April 1994 and extended in November 2003 for the long-established name. The first post office in the area was given the English name Dorset Vale circa 1850, but it was locally known as "Scotts Bottom" as it was downstream from Scott Creek. Scotts Bottom School opened in 1930, its name was changed to Dorset Vale in 1937 and it closed in 1944.
Devon Park is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the cities of Port Adelaide Enfield and Charles Sturt beside the Gawler railway line near, but not meeting, the intersection of Torrens Road and Churchill Road.

The County of Sturt is one of the 49 cadastral counties of South Australia. It was proclaimed by Governor George Grey in 1842 and named for early Australian explorer, Charles Sturt. It stretches from the Bremer River and eastern slopes of the Adelaide Hills at Nairne and Tungkillo to the Murray River in the east and in the south, the portion of Lake Alexandrina north of a line from Point Sturt to Pomanda Island. This includes the west-of-river parts of the contemporary local government areas of the Mid Murray Council and Murray Bridge City.

The Hundred of Monarto is a cadastral unit of hundred, the centre of which lies about 47 kilometres (29 mi) east southeast of Adelaide in South Australia and about 19 kilometres (12 mi) west of the Murray River. One of the ten hundreds of the County of Sturt, it is bounded on the west by the Bremer River, with the north west corner being set at the point where Mount Barker Creek merges with the river. It was named in 1847 by Governor Frederick Robe after "Queen Monarto", an aboriginal woman who lived at the time in the area. According to John Wrathall Bull, in his writings on early South Australia history, she was the lubra (partner) of aboriginal tribal leader "King John", whose tribe resided "on the banks of the Murray" at the time.

The Hundred of Macclesfield is a cadastral division of the County of Hindmarsh in South Australia. It lies in the Adelaide Hills and straddles the South Eastern Freeway. It is named after the Earl of Macclesfield while the aboriginal name used for the area covered by the hundred is reported to be Kangowirranilla, meaning 'place for kangaroos and water'. Within its bounds are the localities of Blakiston, Flaxley, Littlehampton, Macclesfield, Totness, parts of Bugle Ranges, Echunga, Gemmells, Green Hills Range, Meadows, Mount Barker, Mount Barker Junction, Mount Barker Summit, Nairne, Paris Creek, Strathalbyn and Wistow.
The Hundred of Strathalbyn is a cadastral division of the County of Hindmarsh in South Australia. It lies west of the Adelaide Hills and east of Lake Alexandrina and includes at its southwestern extremity the town of Strathalbyn. Its name is derived from that used for a sub-division granted in 1841. No definitive derivation for the subdivision of Strathalbyn name is known but it is deemed probable that John Rankine or his brother William provided the name with the meaning given as "white valley" from the Scottish srath and albion. Mount Barker Creek forms much of the northern hundred boundary while the Bremer River forms the eastern border.
The Hundred of Goyder is the cadastral unit of hundred on the northern Adelaide Plains centred on the locality of Goyder. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Stanley. It was named in 1862 by Governor Dominick Daly after George Goyder, famed South Australian surveyor. In addition to the localities of Goyder and Beaufort, most of Nantawarra lies within the Hundred of Goyder. The portions of Port Wakefield and Bowmans north of the Wakefield River are also inside the hundred, and small parts of the localities of South Hummocks and Mount Templeton cross the western and eastern of boundaries of the hundred, respectively.
The Hundred of Para Wirra is a cadastral hundred of the County of Adelaide, South Australia, spanning a portion of the Adelaide Hills north of the Torrens Valley including Mount Crawford.
