Old Oak Common Lane railway station is a proposed railway station in West London, UK. If constructed, it will be situated on the North London Line, between Acton Central and Willesden Junction, within the London Overground commuter rail system. Old Oak Common Lane station would be situated about 400 yards (350 metres) to the west of the planned Old Oak Common railway station [1] and will offer interchange between London Overground and other rail services, including National Rail (Great Western Railway), Crossrail (the Elizabeth Line) and High Speed 2. It is one of two proposed new stations which will connect with Old Oak Common, the other being Hythe Road on the West London line. [2]
Old Oak Common Lane station would be located about 350 metres (1,150 ft) to the west of the main Crossrail station on Old Oak Common Lane. It is also planned to construct a footbridge to give access to the station from Victoria Road (A4000 road) via Midland Terrace. Interchange with the Crossrail station will be determined by the design of the new Old Oak Common station. [3]
Under the Transport and Works Act 1992, the project will be subject to a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) and governmental funding if construction is to proceed. The scheme would also be examined at a public inquiry before it could be approved by the Secretary of State for Transport. [4]
In October 2017, Transport for London began a public consultation on the construction of two new Overground stations, Hythe Road on the West London line and Old Oak Common Lane on the North London line. [5] [6] In December 2018, TfL stated that the construction of the two stations would be heavily dependent on securing government funding. [7]
Old Oak Common Lane would be served by London Overground trains running on the North London Line. Additionally, it has been proposed to run trains from West Hampstead Thameslink and Hendon via Old Oak Common Lane to Hounslow by re-opening the Dudding Hill freight line to passenger services. [8] This scheme, known as the West London Orbital, is currently at public consultation stage with TfL. [9]

Crossrail is a completed railway project centred on London. It provides a high-frequency hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system, known as the Elizabeth line, that crosses the capital from suburbs on the west to east and connects two major railway lines terminating in London: the Great Western Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line. The project was approved in 2007, and construction began in 2009 on the central section and connections to existing lines that became part of the route, which has been named the Elizabeth line in honour of Queen Elizabeth II who opened the line on 17 May 2022 during her Platinum Jubilee. The central section of the line between Paddington and Abbey Wood opened on 24 May 2022, with 12 trains per hour running in each direction through the core section in Central London.
The Mildmay Line (ML) is a railway line which passes through the inner suburbs of London, England between Richmond in the south-west and Stratford in the east, avoiding central London. Its route is a rough semicircle.
The Gospel Oak to Barking line, since November 2024 known as the Suffragette line and also shortened to GOBLIN, is a railway line in London. It is 13 miles 58 chains (22.1 km) in length and carries both through goods trains and London Overground passenger trains, connecting Gospel Oak in north London and Barking Riverside in east London. The line is part of Network Rail Strategic Route 6, and is classified as a London and South East Commuter line. On 15 February 2024 Transport for London announced that the Overground service will be renamed as part of a strategic rebrand with the new name in use since November 2024.

Located 4 miles 21 chains (6.9 km) down the line from London Paddington between Paddington and Ealing Broadway stations. The station is served and managed by the Elizabeth line. Old Oak Common is a semi-industrial area of London, between Harlesden and Acton. The area is traditionally known for its railway depots, particularly Old Oak Common TMD which was decommissioned in 2021. Together with neighbouring Park Royal, the area is intended to become the UK's largest regeneration scheme.
London Overground is a suburban rail network serving London and its environs. Established in 2007 to take over Silverlink Metro routes, it now serves a large part of Greater London as well as Hertfordshire, with 113 stations on the six lines that make up the network.
Crossrail 2 is a suspended proposal for a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit route in South East England, running from nine stations in Surrey to three in Hertfordshire, providing a new North–South rail link across Greater London. It would connect the South West Main Line to the West Anglia Main Line, via Victoria and King's Cross St Pancras. The intent was to alleviate severe overcrowding that would otherwise occur on commuter rail routes into Central London. When first proposed, the hope was for construction to start around 2023, with the new line opening from the early 2030s. The project's cost has been estimated at £31.2 billion.
Old Oak Common (OOC) is a railway station under construction on the site of the Old Oak Common traction maintenance depot to the west of London in Old Oak Common, approximately 500 m (1,600 ft) south of Willesden Junction station. When built, it is expected to be one of the largest rail hubs in London, at about 800 m (2,600 ft) in length and 20 m (66 ft) below surface level.
The Dudding Hill Line is a railway line in west and north-west London running from Acton to Cricklewood. It is roughly 4 miles (6.4 km) long, with a 30 miles per hour (48 km/h) speed limit, and semaphore signalling. The line has no scheduled passenger service, no stations, and is not electrified. It is lightly used by freight trains and, very occasionally, passenger charter trains.
King's Road Chelsea railway station is a proposed station on Crossrail 2, a planned underground railway line through London in the United Kingdom. If constructed, the station would serve the King's Road area of Chelsea.
The Bakerloo line extension is a proposed extension of the London Underground Bakerloo line in South London from its current terminus at Elephant & Castle to Lewisham station.
The West London Orbital is a proposed extension to the London Overground railway system. The extension would make use of a combination of existing freight and passenger lines including the Dudding Hill Line, North London Line and Hounslow Loop. The route would run for approximately 11 miles (17 km) from West Hampstead and Hendon at the northern end to Hounslow at the western end via Brent Cross West, Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common, South Acton and Brentford.
Barking Riverside is a railway station in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, East London. The eastern terminus of the Suffragette line of the London Overground, the station serves the Barking Riverside regeneration area and was built as part of a £327m extension of the Gospel Oak to Barking line. It opened on 18 July 2022 and provides interchange with the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers boat service from Barking Riverside Pier.
The Elizabeth line is a high-frequency hybrid urban–suburban rail service in London and its suburbs. It runs services on dedicated infrastructure in central London from the Great Western Main Line west of Paddington station to Abbey Wood and via Whitechapel to the Great Eastern Main Line near Stratford; along the Great Western Main Line to Reading and Heathrow Airport in the west; and along the Great Eastern Main Line to Shenfield in the east. The service is named after Queen Elizabeth II, who officially opened the line on 17 May 2022 during her Platinum Jubilee year; passenger services started on 24 May 2022. Elizabeth line services are operated by MTR Elizabeth line under a concession from Transport for London (TfL). Despite being named under the same system as London Underground lines, and having sections which are underground, the Elizabeth line is not classified as a London Underground line.
The Crossrail line was first proposed in 1941. It was first proposed to Parliament in 1991 but was rejected. It was then proposed by the government as the Crossrail bill in 2005. Construction started in 2009 and, heavily delayed, the central section was opened by Elizabeth II on 24 May 2022 with full completion due in 2023.
