As of 2022, the economic regions of Mountainous Shirvan and Mil-Mughan have the highest birth rate in Azerbaijan. According to the latest census in 1999, the number of Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian descent living in other parts of the country, except Nagorno-Karabakh, was 659 (47 men and 612 women)
