Vincent Cimatti SDB [1] [2] [3] also known as Vincenzo Cimatti was a Roman Catholic priest, bishop, prefect apostolic and Salesian provincial to Japan. He is founder of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus. [4] [5] He is the brother of Maria Raffaella Cimatti, a member of the Hospitaler Sisters of Mercy, who was beatified by the Catholic Church in 1996.
Vincent was born on 15 July 1879 in Faenza, Ravenna, Italy to James and Rosa Pasi, the youngest of six children.
He was ordained a priest at the age of 24. He led a group of Salesians to start a Salesian mission in Japan. He was appointed prefect apostolic in 1935.
Cimatti died on 6 October 1965 in Japan. His body was re-exhumed in 1977 and found to be perfectly intact. His remains are kept in a crypt in Chofu. [6]
He was declared 'The Venerable' on 21 December 1991 by Pope John Paul II. [7] [8]

John Melchior Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco[ˈdɔm ˈbɔsko, bo-], was an Italian Roman Catholic priest, educator, and writer of the 19th century. While working in Turin, where the population suffered many of the ill-effects of industrialization and urbanization, he dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, juvenile delinquents, and other disadvantaged youth. He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method that became known as the Salesian Preventive System.
Michele Rua was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and professed member of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Rua was a student under Don Bosco and was also the latter's first collaborator in the order's founding as well as one of his closest friends. He served as the first Rector Major of the Salesians following Bosco's death in 1888. He was responsible for the expansion of the Salesians and the order had grown to a significant degree around the world at the time he died. Rua served as a noted spiritual director and leader for the Salesians known for his austerities and rigid adherence to the rule. It was for this reason that he was nicknamed, 'the living rule'.
