The Rabbinical College of South Africa is a Chabad Yeshiva based in Sydenham, Johannesburg.
It was established in c. 2021, and is headed by Rabbi Levi Wineberg, [1] also joint Rosh Kollel of Kollel Bet Mordechai, and internationally known for his annotated translation [2] of Tanya. Rabbi Mendy Shishler is Mashpia .
The yeshiva offers a three-year program, per the ethos and structure of Tomchei Temimim , and extends to a fourth year for Semikha (ordination); it also hosts a kollel for advanced students.
A yeshiva is a traditional Jewish educational institution focused on the study of Rabbinic literature, primarily the Talmud and halacha, while Torah and Jewish philosophy are studied in parallel. The studying is usually done through daily shiurim as well as in study pairs called chavrusas. Chavrusa-style learning is one of the unique features of the yeshiva.
Ner Israel Rabbinical College, also known as NIRC and Ner Yisroel, is a Haredi yeshiva in Pikesville, Maryland. Nissen Nemanov (1904–1984), known familiarly as Reb Nissen, was a Belarusian Orthodox rabbi. He served as a Mashpia, Hasidic mentor, in the Yeshiva of Tomchei Temimim in Brunoy, near Paris, France. He taught many thousands of students during his lifetime, and was renowned for his piety and abstinence. He was buried in the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
