History

Seeking to provide quality creative arts and media career training and education, Dr John Lazarus and Rob Gray [1] founded CityVarsity in Cape Town in 1996. Dr Lazarus owned the building in Kloof street, Cape Town. Later, it was officially registered as a private higher education institution with the Department of Higher Education and Training in 1997 and accredited by the Council on Higher Education. [2] [3] The Cape Town campus moved from Park & Kloof Street to Roeland Street in 2014. [4] CityVarsity has seen an increase in international students over its existence. [5]

Courses and student life

CityVarsity has been honing South Africa's creative talent since 1996, offering a wide variety of courses including Animation, Journalism, Professional Acting and many more. Students often take on work experience during their studies. [6]

Burton & South Derbyshire College (BSDC) is a general further education college and is situated in Burton upon Trent town centre. It attracts approximately 13,000 students from Burton and the surrounding towns and villages. It delivers a wide range of courses for all ages including 16- to 19-year-olds, adults into part-time study, employer training and higher education. Recently a 'university centre' has been developed within the college to enable students to study on franchised higher education courses, but is not in itself a university.

The International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT) is a trade film school offering diploma and certificate programs in filmmaking, acting, and 3D animation. IAFT includes significant amounts of hands-on practical experience under the care and guidance of recognized industry mentors in its programs. IAFT Cebu was also voted as "one of the best film schools in the world" by the Hollywood Reporter.

Open Window is an accredited private higher education provider. It was established in 1993 as an art school. It has since expanded into an institute offering three accredited bachelor's degrees and postgraduate degrees.

The Illinois State UniversityCollege of Fine Arts (Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts) offers programs in art, music, theatre, dance, and arts technology. The name of the college was officially changed to "Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts" in recognition of a $12 million gift from the artist and alumn Wonsook Kim.
