Bishop Mar Shlemon Warduni (born April 24, 1943) is Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarchate of Babylon, Iraq, of the Chaldean Catholic Church. In 2003 he was the Locum tenens of the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans.
Shlemon Warduni was born at Batnaya, Iraq on April 24, 1943, and was ordained priest on June 29, 1968. On January 12, 2001, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarchate of Babylon and he was consecrated bishop on February 16, 2001, by Patriarch Mar Raphael I Bidawid.
After the death of Patriarch Mar Raphael I Bidawid, he was appointed Locum tenens of the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans till the election, on December 3, 2003, of Patriarch Mar Emmanuel III Delly.

The Assyrian Church of the East, officially the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East, is an Eastern Christian church that follows the traditional Christology and ecclesiology of the historical Church of the East. It belongs to the eastern branch of Syriac Christianity, and employs the Divine Liturgy of Saints Addai and Mari belonging to the East Syriac Rite. Its main liturgical language is Classical Syriac, a dialect of Eastern Aramaic, and the majority of its adherents are ethnic Assyrians.
The Chaldean Catholic Church is an Eastern Catholic particular church in full communion with the Holy See and the rest of the Catholic Church, and is headed by the Chaldean Patriarchate. Employing in its liturgy the East Syriac Rite in the Syriac language, it is part of Syriac Christianity. Headquartered in the Cathedral of Mary Mother of Sorrows, Baghdad, Iraq, since 1950, it is headed by the Catholicos-Patriarch Louis Raphaël I Sako. In 2010, it had a membership of 490,371, of whom 310,235 (63.27%) lived in the Middle East.
Mar Emmanuel III Delly was the Patriarch Emeritus of Babylon of the Chaldeans and former Primate of the Chaldean Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic sui juris particular church of the Catholic Church, and also a Cardinal. An ethnic Chaldean, he was born in Tel Keppe and was ordained a priest on 21 December 1952. He was consecrated a bishop ten years later in December 1962 at the age of 35. He was elected Patriarch of the Chaldean Church on 3 December 2003, succeeding the late Patriarch Raphael I Bidawid. He was created a Cardinal Bishop on 24 November 2007.
