Location

Porur metro station (also known as Porur Junction metro station) is an upcoming elevated metro station on the East-West Corridor of the Yellow Line of Chennai Metro in Chennai, India. This metro station will be among the 30 elevated stations of Corridor IV and 12 underground stations along Corridor IV of the Chennai Metro, Poonamallee Bypass–Lighthouse stretch. This station is slated to be commercialized on December 2025. ^{[1] [2]}

History

In November 2020, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) invited bids for the construction of Porur metro station alongwith eight other stations from Alapakkam to Kodambakkam Powerhouse stations, in a package.

Upon evaluation, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), submitted the favorable bid in both technical and financial terms and was consequently awarded the contract. ^[3] They commenced construction of elevated double-decker viaducts till Alapakkam and a single viaduct to Porur. With the MGR flyover passing close to Porur metro station, steel beams were placed to connect with this Yellow line. ^[4] The work on Porur station was almost completed in March 2025 alongwith the next set of stations from Porur Bypass to Poonamallee Bypass ^[5] and set for opening by end of 2025. ^[1]
