The 2018 South Dakota elections were held on November 6, 2018. All of South Dakota's executive officers were up for election as well as South Dakota's at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives.

Incumbent Republican U.S. Representative Kristi Noem did not run for re-election and instead ran for governor. [1] Republican Dusty Johnson won the general election.

Incumbent Republican attorney general Marty Jackley was term-limited and could not run for a third term. Jackley unsuccessfully ran for governor. Republican Jason Ravnsborg won becoming the next attorney general.

Lawrence County State's Attorney John Fitzgerald, Chief Deputy Attorney General Charlie McGuigan, and attorney and 2014 U.S. Senate candidate Jason Ravnsborg ran for the Republican nomination and won. [5] [6] [7]

Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Shantel Krebs did not run for re-election and instead unsuccessfully ran for Congress. [8] Governing magazine projected the race as "safe Republican". [9] Steve Barnett ran for the Republican nomination and won. [10] He easily won the general election.

Incumbent Republican State Treasurer Rich Sattgast was term-limited and could not run for a third term. Josh Haeder, Northeast Director for Senator Mike Rounds, ran for the Republican nomination and won. [12] He easily won the general election.

Voters selected a representative for their single At-Large district, who run on a statewide ballot. On June 8, 2010, the Republicans nominated Kristi Noem, Assistant Majority Leader of the South Dakota House of Representatives and the Democrats nominated the incumbent Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. B. Thomas Marking ran as an Independent candidate. In the general election, Noem defeated Herseth Sandlin, winning 48.1 percent of the vote to 45.9 percent for Herseth Sandlin.

He previously served as the State's Attorney of Pennington County, South Dakota, having left the position in April 2023.
