Spera District

Spera District is situated in the most southwestern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders with Paktia Province to the south and west, Shamal District to the north. The district is within the heartland of the Zadran tribe of Pashtuns. [1] To the east it borders Nadir Shah Kot and Tani districts and Pakistan. The population is 21,500 people. The district center is the village of Spera, situated in the central part of the district.

Khost Province Province of Afghanistan

Khost is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, located in the eastern part of the country. To the east, Khost Province is bordered by North Waziristan and Kurram in Pakistan. Khost Province used to be part of Paktia Province in the past, and the larger region surrounding Khost is still called Loya Paktia.

Districts of Afghanistan

This is a list of districts of Afghanistan, known as wuleswali. These are secondary level administrative units, one level below the provinces. The Afghan government issued its first district map in 1973. It recognized 325 districts, counting wuleswalis (districts), alaqadaries (sub-districts), and markaz-e-wulaiyat. In the ensuing years additional districts have been added through splits, and a few eliminated through mergers. In June 2005, the Afghan government issued a map of 398 districts. It was widely adopted as by many information management systems, though usually with the addition of Sharak-e-Hayratan for a 399 district total. It remains the de facto standard, as of late 2018, despite a string of government announcements of the creation of new districts.

Tirazayi or Tere Zayi is one of the districts of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It is situated in the northeast of the province. It borders Khost and Sabari districts to the west, Bak District to the north and Pakistan to the east. The population is 49,617. The district center is Aliser, located in the western part of the district.

Khost wa Fereng District District in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan

Khost wa Fereng or Khost wa Fring is the easternmost district of Baghlan province, Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountains. Its capital is Khost wa Fereng. The population of the district was estimated to be around 60300 in 2011–2012, of which ethnic Tajiks made up 90% and Hazaras 10% of the total population.

Bäk District is situated in the northern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Sabari District to the west, Paktia Province and Jaji Maydan District to the north, Pakistan to the east and Tere Zayi District to the south. The population was 19,600 in 2006. The district center is the village of Bäk, located in the southern part close to the border with Tere Zayi District.

Gurbuz District is situated in the southern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Tani District to the west, Mando Zayi and Khost districts to the north and Pakistan to the east and south. The population is 23,200 (2006). The district center is the village of Sekhamir Kalay situated in the northwestern part of the district. It is inhabited by Gurbuz, a Wazir subtribe.

Zazi Maidan District, or Jaji Maidan or Dzadzi Maidan, is located in the northeastern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Bak District to the west, Paktia Province to the north, and the Kurram Agency of Pakistan to the north and east. The estimated population is 26,766 (2019). The district center is the village of Zazi Maidan, situated in the eastern part of the district.

Khost (Matun) District District in Khost Province, Afghanistan

Khost (Matun) District is situated in the central and eastern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. The district center is the town of Khost. Khost Airfield is situated 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of the town of Khost.

Musakhel District is situated in the northern part of the Khost Province, Afghanistan. The district is within the heartland of the Ahmadzai tribe of Ghilji Pashtuns. It borders with Paktia Province to the north, Sabari District to the east, Khost (Matun) District to the south, Nadir Shah Kot District to the southwest and Qalandar District to the west. The population is 36,300 (2006). The district center is the village of Musakhel in the northern part of the district.

Nadir Shah Kot District

Nadir Shah Kot District is situated in the western part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Paktia Province and Shamal District to the west, Qalandar District to the north, Musa Khel District to the northeast, Khost (Matun) District to the east, Mando Zayi District to the southeast and Tani and Spera districts to the south.

Qalandar District is situated in the western part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Paktia Province to the west, Musa Khel District to the north and east and Nadir Shah Kot District to the south. The population is 9,100 (2006). The district center is the village of Khost Mela33.5150°N 69.6778°E.

Sabari District is situated in the northern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Musa Khel District to the west, Paktia Province to the north, Bak District to the east and Tere Zayi and Khost districts to the south.

Spera, Khost Province Place in Khost Province, Afghanistan

Spera is a village and the district center of Spera District, Khost Province, Afghanistan. It is located on 33.2022°N 69.5161°E at 1,790 m altitude. The town is located within the heartland of the Zadran tribe of Pashtuns. During the US occupation of Afghanistan, Spera sat along a highly used smuggling route from Pakistan into Afghanistan. The area was known to harbor many ex-Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Tani District is situated in the southern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Spera District to the west, Nadir Shah Kot and Mando Zayi to the north, Gurbuz District to the east and Pakistan to the south. The population is 52,800 (2006) people. The district center is the village of Tani, situated in the northeastern part of the district. Tanokhel tribe is settled here. The language spoken in Tani is Pashto.

Shamal District is situated in the western part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. The district is within the heartland of the Kharoti tribe of Pashtuns. It borders Paktia Province to the west, Nadir Shah Kot District to the east and Spera District to the south. The population is 12,200 (2006). The district center is the village of Shamal, situated in the eastern part of the district. It was moved from Paktia Province.

Mandozai District, also known as Ismail Khel, is situated in the central part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Nadir Shah Kot District to the north and west, Khost (Matun) District to the east, Gurbuz District to the southwest and Tani District to the south. The population is 50,000 (2006). The district center is the village of Dadwal.

Warsaj District is a district of Takhar Province, northern Afghanistan.

Afghan Border Force

The Afghan Border Police (ABP) secure Afghanistan's 5,529 kilometres (3,436 mi) border with neighboring countries and all its international airports. It also administers immigration services such as checking documents of foreigners entering the country or deporting them. The ABP's anti-narcotic efforts are a prominent concern to the international community at present. The ABP and other divisions of the Afghan National Police jointly patrol a 55 km-wide corridor along the entirety of Afghanistan's border, particularly the longest and porous Durand Line border in the southeast with neighboring Pakistan.

Spera is a frazione of the comune of Castel Ivano in northern Italy.
