Jowzjan, sometimes spelled as Jawzjan or Jozjan, is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the north of the country bordering neighboring Turkmenistan. The province is divided into 11 districts and contains hundreds of villages. It has a population of about 512,100, which is multi-ethnic and mostly agriculturalists. Sheberghan is the capital of Jozjan province.
Sheberghān or Shaburghān, also spelled Shebirghan and Shibarghan, is the capital city of the Jowzjan Province in northern Afghanistan.

The population is more than 90,652 people (2012). The district capital is the city of Aqcha, which is situated in the northern, more populated part of the district. The region is known for traditional carpets and rugs. The main road from Sheberghan to Mazar-i-Sharif passes a few kilometers south of the city of Aqcha.
Darzab District is the southwesternmost district in Jowzjan Province, Afghanistan. It borders Sheberghan District to northeast, Sar-e Pol Province to the west and Faryab Province to the south and west. The population is 52,800 (2012). The district center is Darzab.
Fayzabad District is situated in the eastern part of Jowzjan Province, Afghanistan. It borders Aqcha District to the west, Mardyan District to the north, Balkh Province to the east and Sar-e Pol Province to the south. The population is 56,000 (2011). The district center is the village of Fayzabad. It is situated in the northern part of the district, a few miles north of the main Sheberghan - Mazari Sharif road.
Khwaja Du Koh is a district of Jowzjan Province, Afghanistan, situated in the Karakum Desert. It borders Faryab Province to the west, Khamyab District to the north, Mingajik District to the east and Sheberghan District to the south. The population is 23,900 (2006). The district capital is Khwaja du koh, and is located in the southern part of the district.
Khwaja Du Koh is a town and the center of Khwaja Du Koh District, Jowzjan Province, Afghanistan. It is situated few miles northwest of the city of Sheberghan and a mile northeast from the main Andkhoy-Sheberghan road. It is located at 36.8158°N 65.6178°E at 306 m altitude at the edge of Karakum Desert.
Kohband District is situated in the northwestern part of Kapisa Province, Afghanistan. It borders Kohistan District to the west, Parvan Province to the north, Nijrab District to the east and Mahmud Raqi District to the south. The population is 26,133 (2019). The district center is Hajjikheyl located in the western part of the district. The people mostly speak Pashayi language.
Zazi Maidan District, or Jaji Maidan or Dzadzi Maidan, is located in the northeastern part of Khost Province, Afghanistan. It borders Bak District to the west, Paktia Province to the north, and the Kurram Agency of Pakistan to the north and east. The estimated population is 26,766 (2019). The district center is the village of Zazi Maidan, situated in the eastern part of the district.
Dangam District is situated in the eastern end of Kunar Province, Afghanistan. It borders Marawara district to the west, Asadabad district to the northwest, Bar Kunar district to the north, Nari district to the northeast and Pakistan to the east and south. The district is mountainous and poor. The population is 18,803 (2019) and is 98% Pashtun and 2% Tajik. There are 50 sub-villages and the district center is Dangam at 1356 m altitude, located in the central part of the district.
Sirkanay District is situated in the central part of Kunar Province, Afghanistan. It borders Pakistan to the south. The population is 39,292 (2019). The district administrative center is the village of Serkanay at 775 m altitude. To the north the district borders the Kunar River, which irrigates the small part of arable land. Drought is the major problem of the people. The majority of the houses (70%) were destroyed during the wars. Many young men live and work in Pakistan.
Eslām Chūngar is a small town in the province of Jowzjan, northern Afghanistan.
The Babar or Babori tribe is a Pashtun tribe. The Babar diasporas is spread across Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Andkhoy District is a district in Faryab Province, Afghanistan. The district center is Andkhoy, and there are a total of 81 villages in the district. Most people farm or raise livestock in the district. The district is considered to be government-influenced, as opposed to the Taliban.
Aqcha or Akcha, is a town in northern Afghanistan. It is located approximately 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Sheberghan and 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of Mazar-i-Sharif. It serves as the center of the Aqcha District of Afghanistan's Jowzjan Province. The town is situated a few kilometers north of the main Sheberghan-Mazar-i-Sharif road called Aqyol.
Afghan-Turk Maarif Schools are private chain of Turkish educational institutions currently working under Turkish Maarif Foundation, an educational institution connected to Turkish Republic with a special status. 20 branches of Afghan-Turk Schools are operating in Kabul, Herat, Mezar-ı Sherif, Kandahar, Celalabad, Shibirgan, Akcha, with a total student population of more than 6000.
