Transportation in Vietnam is improving rapidly in terms of both quantity and quality. Road traffic is growing rapidly but the major roads are dangerous and slow to travel on due to outdated design and an inappropriate traffic mix. In recent years, the construction of expressways has accelerated. Air travel is also important for long-distance travel. The two major metropolises of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have operating metro networks which are currently being expanded.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport, also known as Manila International Airport (MIA), is the main international airport serving Metro Manila in the Philippines. Located between the cities of Pasay and Parañaque, about 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) south of Manila proper and southwest of Makati, it is the main gateway for travelers to the Philippines and serves as a hub for PAL Express and Philippine Airlines. It is also the main operating base for AirSWIFT, Cebgo, Cebu Pacific, and Philippines AirAsia.
Da Nang or Danang is the fifth-largest city in Vietnam by municipal population. Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is the country’s second largest and busiest international airport for passenger traffic, after Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Vinh International Airport is located in Vinh city of Nghệ An province in northern Vietnam. It is a mixed military/civil airport. It used to be one of the two major military airbases in Vietnam, along with Gia Lam Airbase in Hanoi.
Cam Ranh International Airport is located on Cam Ranh Bay in Cam Ranh, a provincial city in Khánh Hòa province in Vietnam. It serves the city of Nha Trang, the capital of Khánh Hòa province, which is 30 km (16 NM) from the airport. This airport handled 9,747,172 passengers in 2019, making it the fourth busiest airport in Vietnam, after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, and one of the fastest growing airports in the country.
Dong Hoi Airport is an airport located in Loc Ninh commune, 6 km (3.7 mi) north of Đồng Hới city, capital of Quảng Bình Province, in North Central Coast of Vietnam, about 500 km (310 mi) southeast of Hanoi by road. The facilities cover 173 ha, on a sandy area, by the coast of South China Sea. The runway approaches near the seashore and nearly parallel to the Highway 1. The airport, like all civil airports in Vietnam, is owned and operated by Airports Corporation of Vietnam.
Van Don International Airport or Ha Long Airport is an airport in Vân Đồn district, Quảng Ninh province, Vietnam. It is located about 50 km (31 mi) away from Hạ Long and 20 km (12 mi) from Cẩm Phả. It is the first private airport in Vietnam, built and operated by Sun Group.
Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company, operating as VietJet Air or Vietjet, is a Vietnamese low-cost airline based in Hanoi. It was the first privately owned airline to be established in Vietnam, being granted its initial approval to operate by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance in November 2007. As of its launch in December 2011, it became the second private airline to offer domestic service in Vietnam, as well as the fifth airline overall to offer civil domestic flights. Airports Corporation of Vietnam is a Vietnamese joint-stock company with 95.4% state-owned shares, based in Ho Chi Minh City. The company, operated under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, was founded on January 8, 2012 when three companies operating airports in the north, the middle, and the south of Vietnam were merged on February 28, 2012.
Mactan–Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the main international airport serving Metro Cebu and serves as the main gateway to the Central Visayas region in the Philippines. Located on a 797-hectare (1,970-acre) site in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan, it is the second busiest airport in the Philippines. Opened on April 27, 1966, the airport serves as a hub for Philippine Airlines, and as an operating base for Cebu Pacific, Philippines AirAsia, and Sunlight Air.
