The 2020 Lubbock mayoral election is an election that will take place on November 3, 2020 to elect the mayor of Lubbock, Texas. The election saw Dan Pope re-elected to serve a third, two year term as mayor. [1]

The election was originally scheduled to take place on May 2, 2020, however was postponed to November 3 after a proclamation from Texas Governor Greg Abbott to allow political subdivisions to delay voting. [2]

He served only one two-year term from 1970-1972. He was a member of the Lubbock City Council from 1966–1970. He did not seek a second two-year term in 1972 and was succeeded by city councilman Morris W. Turner. Mayors and council members in Texas are all officially nonpartisan, but Granberry was known to be a Republican.

Delwin L. Jones was an American politician, who, prior to 2011, was the oldest member of the Texas House of Representatives, having represented what became and what remains District 83 based in the area about Lubbock, Texas. Jones was originally elected as a Democrat in 1964, when that party held 149 of the 150 seats in the Texas House. Jones was defeated for re-nomination in 1972 by cotton farmer Pete Laney of Hale Center, later the House Speaker. After a 12-year absence, Jones returned to the House in 1989 as a Republican.

Thomas Allen Martin was an American politician who served as mayor of Lubbock, Texas from 2008 to 2012. He was a member of the Lubbock City Council from 2002 to 2006. Prior to seeking elected office, he had a career in law enforcement in Lubbock, Grapevine, and San Marcos, Texas. He has served as an instructor of criminal justice and political science at Wayland Baptist University's Lubbock campus. Although Texas elections for mayors are explicitly nonpartisan, Martin is regarded as a Republican.

Dustin Ray Burrows is an attorney and businessman in his native Lubbock, Texas, who is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives from District 83 in West Texas, and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The district includes a large portion of Lubbock County and all of Gaines, Borden, Scurry, Terry, Lynn and Mitchell Counties. On January 13, 2015, he succeeded Charles Perry, who won a special election in the summer of 2014 to the Texas State Senate. In the recent November, 2020 election, Burrows was re-elected with almost 80% of the vote.
