The 2018 Garland mayoral special election was held on May 6, 2018 to elect the mayor of Garland, Texas. It saw the election of Lori Barnett Dodson.

The election was held after the resignation of Douglas Athas, which had formally occurred in January 2018, but had been announced in October 2017. [2]

2019 Dallas mayoral election

On May 4, 2019, the city of Dallas, Texas, held an election to choose the next Mayor of Dallas. The election began as a nonpartisan blanket primary, no candidate took a majority of over 50% of the total vote so the two top vote-earners Eric Johnson and Scott Griggs advanced to a runoff election on June 8. Incumbent mayor Mike Rawlings was unable to run for reelection due to term limits. Dallas also concurrently elected all 14 members of its city council, and 3 of the 9 total members of the Dallas Independent School District. Johnson won the runoff with 55.61%.

A member of the Republican Party, she served as Mayor of Irving from 2011 through 2017. She is also a former official in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Trump Administration. Van Duyne is the second Republican woman elected to a full term in the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas.

The Dallas mayoral election of 2003 took place on May 3, 2003, to elect the mayor of Dallas, Texas. The race was officially nonpartisan. It saw the reelection of Laura Miller, who won the election by taking a majority in the initial round of voting, thereby negating the need for a runoff to be held.
