Since Utah became a U.S. state in 1896, it has sent congressional delegations to the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives. Each state elects two senators to serve for six years. Before the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913, senators were elected by the Utah State Legislature. Members of the House of Representatives are elected to two-year terms, one from each of Utah's four congressional districts. Before becoming a state, the Territory of Utah elected a non-voting delegate at-large to Congress from 1850 to 1896.
The 2002 United States House of Representatives elections were held on November 5, 2002, in the middle of President George W. Bush's first term, to elect U.S. Representatives to serve in the 108th United States Congress. This was the first congressional election using districts drawn up during the 2000 United States redistricting cycle on the basis of the 2000 census.
The 1996 United States House of Representatives elections was an election for the United States House of Representatives on November 5, 1996, to elect members to serve in the 105th United States Congress. They coincided with the re-election of President Bill Clinton. Democrats won the popular vote by almost 60,000 votes (0.07%) and gained a net of two seats from the Republicans, but the Republicans retained an overall majority of seats in the House for the first time since 1928.
The Utah State Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Utah. It is a bicameral body, comprising the Utah House of Representatives, with 75 state representatives, and the Utah Senate, with 29 state senators. There are no term limits for either chamber.
Utah's 4th congressional district is a congressional district created by the state legislature as a result of reapportionment by Congress after the 2010 census showed population increases in the state relative to other states. Prior to 2010 reapportionment, Utah had three congressional districts.
The 2014 United States elections were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, in the middle of Democratic President Barack Obama's second term. A typical six-year itch midterm election suffered by most second-term presidents, this election saw the Republican Party retaining control of the House of Representatives and winning control of the Senate, while furthering their gains in the governorships and state legislatures. Because of these Republican gains, the election was commonly cited as a "red wave" election.
The 2018 United States House of Representatives elections in Utah were held on November 6, 2018, to elect the four U.S. representatives from the state of Utah, one from each of the state's four congressional districts. The elections coincided with other states' elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections. Registered political parties in Utah must have at least one of their candidates for House of Representatives get 2% of the vote in their respective election in order to maintain their ballot access in future elections.
There were nine elections to the United States House of Representatives in 1895, during 53rd United States Congress and the 54th United States Congress. Republicans held six seats, won one, and lost one. Democrats, the party of President Grover Cleveland, held one seat and gained one seat. Democrats held the House majority in the 53rd Congress and Republicans held it in the 54th.
There were six special elections to the United States House of Representatives in 2017 during the 115th United States Congress.
The 2020 Minnesota House of Representatives election was held in the U.S. state of Minnesota on November 3, 2020, to elect members to the House of Representatives of the 92nd Minnesota Legislature. A primary election was held in several districts on August 11, 2020. The election coincided with the election of the other house of the Legislature, the Senate, and other elections.
The 2020 Ohio House of Representatives Election was held on November 3, 2020, with the primary election held on April 28, 2020. Ohio voters elected state representatives in the 99 Ohio House of Representatives districts. State representatives elected in 2020 will be eligible to serve a two-year term beginning January 2021 and ending December 2022. These elections will coincide with elections for U.S. President and the Ohio Senate.
The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in Utah were held on November 8, 2022, to elect the four U.S. representatives from the state of Utah, one from each of the state's four congressional districts.
