Manus is an Austronesian language spoken on the island of Flores in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Its speakers live in the area between the ethnic areas of the Manggarai and Ngada, north of the Rongga. [2]
This language has a close relationship with the Manggarai language [3] and is sometimes considered a dialect of it. [4] This has not been studied in depth by linguists. [2] [3]
This language is sometimes studied as a second language and is known by some Rongga people. [1]
Most of the Rongga people are multilinguals, speaking at least four languages (Indonesian, Manggarai, one or more neighbouring languages(s) of Manus or Waerana, and Rongga).
