The 2024 Montana State Auditor election will take place on November 5, 2024, to elect the next state auditor of Montana. Incumbent Republican auditor Troy Downing is not seeking re-election, instead opting to run for U.S. House. Primary elections will take place on June 4, 2024. [1]

Rosendale served in the Montana House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013, and in the Montana Senate from 2013 to 2017. From 2015 to 2017, he served as Senate majority leader. Rosendale was elected Montana state auditor in 2016 and held that position from 2017 to 2020. Rosendale ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014 and for the U.S. Senate in 2018. He was elected to represent Montana's at-large congressional district in 2020. After Montana regained its second House seat in the 2020 census, Rosendale was elected to represent the new 2nd congressional district in 2022.
