After learning the result of the presidential elections in the United States, we celebrate Trump's defeat, but Biden's victory is not a cause for joy. Although the aggressive and crude Trump becomes a bad memory of history, and this is celebrated in the streets of the country, it cannot be forgotten that the two presidential candidates are part of the privileged who express themselves in both variants: Democrat and republican, who belong to the same 'party of power' that governs for the plutocracy, even though there are slight differences in domestic politics and international action. [...] The Obama and Biden administrations gestured toward Cuba, but did not close the sinister Guantanamo prison; signed the 5+1 agreement with Iran, but continued the military intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq, started the war against Syria and the aggression against Libya that destroyed the country, and financed and supported the Maidan coup in Ukraine that led to the extreme right to power. He supported the military coup in Thailand and compromised with the sinister General Al-Sisi who carried out the military coup in Egypt. He also maintained the NSA's worldwide spy program, created by Bush in 2008 and denounced by Snowden. And in its relationship with Russia and China, the government of Democrats Obama and Biden followed the purposes of the Pentagon, reinforcing NATO forces on the Russian borders and formulating its 'turn to Asia' that involved the transfer of a good part of their military troops to the seas near China for their containment and harassment plan."

The 2020 United States presidential election in California was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. California voters chose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote, pitting the Republican Party's nominee, incumbent President Donald Trump, and running mate Vice President Mike Pence against Democratic Party nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden, and his running mate Kamala Harris, the junior senator from California. California had, in the 2020 election 55 electoral votes in the Electoral College, the most of any state. Prior to the election, most news organizations considered California a strongly Democratic state, or a safe blue state. It has voted Democratic in every presidential election from 1992 onward. California was one of six states where Trump received more percentage of the two-party vote than he did in 2016. This election also marked the first time since 2004 that the Republican candidate won more than one million votes in Los Angeles County, due to increased turnout statewide.
The 2020 presidential campaign of Kamala Harris, a United States senator from California from January 2017 to 2021, officially began on January 21, 2019, with an announcement on Good Morning America. Harris had widely been considered a "high profile" candidate for the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries since 2016.

In the United States, the presidential transition refers to the process by which a president-elect prepares to take over administration of the government, generally with cooperation from the outgoing administration. The transition normally takes place during the roughly 10-week period between the election in the first week of November and the inauguration on January 20. Joe Biden's transition was shortened somewhat because the outgoing Trump administration did not recognize Biden as the "apparent winner" until November 23.
Members of the United States Republican Party have reacted differently to Republican President Donald Trump's false claims about the 2020 United States presidential election, with many publicly supporting them, many remaining silent, and a few publicly denouncing them. Trump falsely claimed to have won the election, and made many false and unsubstantiated claims of election fraud. By December 11, 2020, 126 out of 196 Republican members of the House backed a lawsuit filed in the United States Supreme Court supported by nineteen Republican state attorneys general seeking to subvert the election and overturn the election results. Multiple polls for months after the election found that majorities of Republicans believed the election was fraudulent and stolen and that Trump was the "true" president. Drawing on the false allegations of voting fraud and a stolen election, by February 2021 Republican state legislatures had begun to implement new laws and rules to restrict voting access in ways that would favor Republican candidates. In Arizona, the Republican-controlled government proceeded with legislation to allow the state attorney general, currently a Republican, to intervene in the voting certification process managed by the secretary of state, currently a Democrat. Republican lawmakers and candidates in several states sought to seize control of the administrative management of elections.
More than seventy countries and international organizations expressed their concerns over the 2021 United States Capitol attack and condemned the violence, with some specifically condemning President Donald Trump's own role in inciting the attack. Multiple world leaders made a call for peace, describing the riots as "an attack on democracy". The leaders of some countries, including Brazil, Poland and Hungary, declined to condemn the situation, and described it as an internal U.S. affair.
